That said, after having tried both, I will be sticking with the Amzer case for mine. The main reason is the removable lens cover on the Nokia case. Nice idea on paper, but in practice it is a bit cumbersome enough to get it off/on - especially when you are trying to open the camera in a hurry. Moreover - and this is the kicker - it covers up the loudspeaker, so that Nokia Drive (voice navigation), alarms, and even the phone ring tone are all muffled.
In contrast, the Amzer case has no detachable parts, but instead has openings for the lens, flash, and loudspeaker - making these always accessible without exposing them too much to the elements. The Amzer case also provides a better grip, with textured surfaces on the side of the phone.
What the Nokia case has going for it is that the side buttons (volume rocker, camera shutter key) are still easy to push, while with the Amzer case they are stiffer. Then again, I have learned to use screen controls rather than the shutter key to focus and snap, since it produces better stability and less blur in any case.
Oh, and the "Nokia" logo...
Both covers are great overall, and provide much needed protection all around the phone. Especially the metallic are around the camera lens is otherwise very susceptible to scratches.
Again, the camera cover also blocks the phone's speaker but i heard that it has been fixed in it's new version. Hoping to get the new version soon
Here are the issues I've had with it:
1- The camera cover pops off when you do not want it to and is sometimes difficult to remove when you want it off.
2- How about allowing the speaker some relief? Even a small slit in the lens cover of this would yield large results in improving speakerphone and music listening.
3- How is that softer material around the edges secured to the harder material? After removing the cover from the phone a few times (less than five) Separation of the softer edge material from the harder back material was evident. When it reached over 50% of the linear attachment area I resorted to cyanoacrylate adhesive. This has somewhat solved the issue where the adhesive is present but moved it to the areas that were not fixed or previously detached.
Here are the features I like about it:
1- Side buttons access is covered but totally functional. Except the lock key which is a slide rather than a depress type of action to activate. This is left bare, which is not a problem.
2- Access to the microUSB port, HDMI port and earphone jack is unencumbered.
3- The softer material wraps around the front of the Pureview 808 protecting the display and bezel from edge wear. This is a great implementation of this.
4- Except the loudspeaker all of the other voice/audio equipment is properly relieved and protected.
5- The lens cap is tethered by what appears to be a Kevlar lanyard that is a really functional length. Another good implementation.
So, would I suggest you get one of these? I am waiting for my replacement to arrive as this appears to be the best of the solutions available.Read more ›
One thing to note the protection for the buttons does make the shutter button slightly more stiffer to press. In cases this feels uncomfortable, there's always the onscreen shutter option.
I prefer the red color, as it looks very nice and is easier to spot (esp. if you misplace it) but it requires more maintenance (colored edges from clothing/ setting on tables/etc) than the black version.

This so far is the best case I have for the 808. I previously bought the first version of this case and it was missing the cut-out for the speaker on the lens cap. Read morePublished on January 27, 2013 by 2forty5
