3.0 out of 5 stars decent phone, but for nokia... a bit of a disappointment
I have owned several nokia phones, and though they don't get much attention in this country, I have found them to be by far the most reliable phones you can buy. Seriously, if you drop that motorola or LG, you're probably going to have a small heart attack; and with Nokias, it's like they were meant to be dropped (don't go trying it at home). All I'm saying is that...

If you want a basic phone with good reception and battery life, and are not interested in cameras or MP3 capabilities (and other features), this phone could be a good choice for you.

The one "feature" this model does have is the speakerphone, which works very well IMO. And with amazon.com's rebate and 1-year (instead of 2-year) contract, it's a very good deal indeed.

The only drawback is that the rebate takes about 4 months to receive (you have to wait two billing cycles, then amazon takes about 8 weeks on top of that to process it). If you're patient though, it's hard to find a better deal than this.

But if you want a phone that will "impress your friends" you may have to look elsewhere. This is a very basic piece.

4.0 out of 5 stars Does Cell Phone Well, March 11, 2005

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Nokia 6015i Phone (Verizon Wireless) (Wireless Phone)
I upgraded from an AT&T Nokia (2years old) to the Verizon Nokia 6015i. The difference is amazing. I'm not sure whether it is Verizon or the 6015i or both, but service is clear in places I had no service before - including in my apartment house. On a car trip to very southern Maryland I had excellent service in some very rural areas. No static or breaking up or dropped calls. Works well in the METRO tunnels

I AM VERY, VERY HAPPY!!

PROs:

o Clear Reception with excellent voice quality
o Speaker Phone works very well
o Voice Dialing worked first time for all entries
o Light weight
o Contact lists easy to manage and use
o Good display visibility
o Works well with hands free devices
o Tri-mode
o Good battery life
o Good ring and vibrate options
o Cheap

CONs:

o If you are looking for games, calendars, fancy tones, pictures, MP3, etc., etc. - this is NOT your phone.
o Not as compact or as light weight as most clam shell phones

My choice was somewhat driven by the fact I already had Nokia wall warts in four homes spread across the country and cigarette chargers in four cars, also spread across the county - using those on the new phone saved a pocket full of money - BUT, I am happy with the quality of the phone when it is doing phone things!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality that counts, December 31, 2004
This review is from: Nokia 6015i Phone (Verizon Wireless) (Wireless Phone)
Coming from ATTWS, let me tell you one thing first - Verizon means quality. Coming to the phone, it has everything that I wanted in a cell phone
- Speakerphone quality is very good
- Phone charge stays for 3 full days (I am not a heavy users)
- Good call quality even with 2 bars. I think this varies from phone to phone.
- Size that very well fit in shirt pocket

Not so good things:
- Phone does not come with any headset. Many phones come with that.
- IR port would be a very nice feature

5.0 out of 5 stars Great phone for the price., January 26, 2005
This review is from: Nokia 6015i Phone (Verizon Wireless) (Wireless Phone)
This 6015 replaces my earlier Nokia phone. It seems to me that Nokia has got this entry level phone niche locked for me. This phone does everything I want it to do very well. Personally, I just need a wireless phone to make calls and organize contacts logically without slowing me down.

The Good:
- Easy to use right out the box. I have never had to read the instruction manual on this phone. Thoughful design...
- Decent talk time for the size of the battery
- Tasteful color screen
- Intuitive menus. Each contact can have mulitple numbers assigned in a good directory/tree menu. One touch dialing is very handy for commonly called numbers.

The Bad:
- Sometimes I talk too much on this phone.

Bottom line: You really cannot get a better phone with this set of features for the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Does the basics right, March 7, 2006
This review is from: Nokia 6015i Phone (Verizon Wireless) (Wireless Phone)
I have been using the phone for about a year. Like a typical nokia, this phone does the basics right.

Good:

1. Good sound quality, great battery life (at least 2.5 hours talk time for me), excellent reception
2. Has a decent quality speakerphone
3. The keypad is nice and responds well to fingers
4. VERY sturdy, I have dropped it several times, no problem

Bad:
1. ** THE NUMBER OF CONTACTS IS ONLY 250, NOT 500. Now that becomes a problem sometimes, although you can store a lot of numbers under the same name.
2. Sometimes (once in 100 calls) the phone turns off when making a call, but never during a call
3. Has this antenna thing which I hate, but well.

All in all, a great phone for people who use a phone as a phone, and not as a fancy gadget.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for what it is--a simple phone, July 27, 2005

A basic phone that is easy to use, has great reception and the screen is easy to read.

I have had cells with cameras, blue tooth, modems, computer connections, unlocked, modified firmware, etc; but I don't care--all I want is easy-to-use and good reception. If you want to be cool and have the latest clamshell-of-the-week, or need every feature under the sun, get a different phone. As for me, my cell phone is just a tool and does not define who I am.

Nokias are known for their excellent reception (this phone has the standard interior antenna, as well as an additional built-in extendable antenna should you need extra reception/transmission), and this phone does not disappoint in that regard. What good is a cell phone if it has poor reception or drops calls?

For a basic cell phone, you can't do much better than this, especially for the price.

3.0 out of 5 stars decent phone, but for nokia... a bit of a disappointment, August 13, 2005

All I'm saying is that they're super-solid, and they take a beating, and don't say a whimper, and they can have some super-long battery life as well.
Well, this phone does hold up to the Nokia standard for durability and strong reception. However, I am disappointed in the buttons, the size, and the battery life.

The buttons are just fine, and they're easy to hit... however I've had an ongoing problem that sometimes when I press a button (any button), they tend to double-click on me for no reason. this can be frustrating when typing in series of numbers for paying bills over the phone and whatnot--and also it's annoying when someone calls me, and I hit answer, and it simultaneously answers, and puts them on call waiting. This doesn't happen ALL the time, and I do get used to pressing the buttons JUST RIGHT so that it pretty much doesn't happen at all. Granted, it is a "budget" phone, but none of my previous Nokias had this issue.
Second, the size. Why is it so thick? There is like 1/4" or more of empty space inside the phone, so a lot of dust tends to accumulate under the window. How did it get there? I don't know, but if there was less dust getting in, there probably would be less mis-firing buttons.
My last complaint is the battery life; definitely a disappointment for Nokia. My first one was an ugly old 3650 (with ATT Wireless, yuck), but MAN could it hold a charge. I didn't have to recharge it but once a week, and even if I talked constantly, it'd still go for 3 or 4 days. WOW. After that I had a 3100, which was perfectly tiny and indestructible, but it needed to be charged in about 2/3 the time of the 3650. And the 6015 saddens me because I NEED to charge it every night, or I run the risk of not knowing if it will make it through the next evening. If I don't talk at all, it will go about 4 days on a charge. But what is a phone if you don't talk at all?

I know they don't sell this phone anymore, I just had to get my $.02 out there. I am currently a bit frustrated because Verizon currently offers NO Nokia phones, so I can't trade or move up if I wanted to. Because there is a real value to using Nokia over the others (if you can put up with the candy bar shape): they are the Timex watches of cell phones.

The Nokia 6015i is a great base model cell phone that is easy to use/program with great reception as well.

Besides being basic and dependable, this model phone does have some perks. A good speakerphone option always comes in handy while driving or when you just don't want the phone on your ear.

If you are looking for a basic phone and this Nokia is an option, by all means please obtain one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love It!, April 25, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Nokia 6015i Phone (Verizon Wireless) (Wireless Phone)
I love my phone, it'svery useful and nice. The battery lasts forever (practically!) or at least a good 175 hours (without using it that much)

Things to beware of:
* The cover isn't very sturdy, and it btreaks really easily
* Very limited functions, use only if you want the bare minimum.

3.0 out of 5 stars buttons, October 8, 2007
This review is from: Nokia 6015i Phone (Verizon Wireless) (Wireless Phone)
The buttons wear out easily so when you punch in a number on the keypad, it either does not work at all......or sends the number more than once. I sent mine from Verizon back in on a warranty, and the new phone does the same thing. Very frustrating!
