5.0 out of 5 stars Works Well For Me
I have had this phone for a month and really enjoy it. I have wide fingers and the keypad fits them perfectly. Texting, although not QWERTY, goes quickly. The screen is extremely bright and clear, even in bright sunlight. The external speaker has limitations (to be expected in a handset so small) but I always use headphones to listen to music. Good quality there...

2.0 out of 5 stars Horrible voice quality through the earpiece
If the voice quality was acceptable this would be a very nice phone and get 4 stars. I got my phone and immediately noticed very poor voice quality through the earpiece. The external speaker in contrast has nice sound when it is up to about half volume and has noticeable, but acceptable, distortion above that point considering the very small size and impressive volume...

The screen is extremely bright and clear, even in bright sunlight. The external speaker has limitations (to be expected in a handset so small) but I always use headphones to listen to music. Good quality there. External speaker works quite well for voice calls. I had no problem with sound quality through the phone's earpiece. I'm glad I bought this phone.

I went to the local T-Mobile store and they agreed that it seemed like a manufacturing defect was causing the poor audio quality in the earpiece. Amazon quickly sent me a replacement while allowing me 30 days to return the first phone they sent. The new phone has the exact same issue. A high pitched whine, some static, and clipping of loud voices. I have owned several other older Nokia phones that had very good voice quality. This is a real disappointment.

1.0 out of 5 stars Possibly the worst battery life ever, September 23, 2008
This review is from: Nokia 6263 Phone (T-Mobile) (Wireless Phone)
DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE. The battery life is just a big joke and T-mobile should be ashamed for releasing such a piece of crap. In all complete seriousness this phone lasts about a half hour on a full charge if you use it, about 8 hours on standby. I charge this phone every day and it still doesn't last a whole day, and I hardly use it. Great phone otherwise, having it plugged in and tethered to the wall the majority of the time overshadows anything good about it. What a disappointment, will never look at another Nokia phone.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor Battery Life, May 31, 2008

I saw a number of positive reviews for this phone on different websites and decided to upgrade from my Nokia 3650 which is at least 5 years old. While I have been very pleased with the 3650, I am very disappointed with the 6263 for the main reason that the battery life is poor, as someone else already mentioned. While it is advertised as 11 days on standby, mine lasted only 4 days without any use and with the bluetooth turned off. My 3650, by comparison, lasted 5-6 days and has an advertised standby of 8 days. I thought the phone/battery was defective so I returned it and got a new one, and the same story again - it does not last more than 4 days without use. The 11 days of advertised time is simply false advertising. Once I actually start speaking with it and start using its music features, how long will it last?

The back cover is initially a pain to take off, but I found that it is easiest to remove by placing your fingers in the middle of the back cover and sliding it from there- much easier than the instructions in the manual and quick-start guide. Have not had any other trouble except the battery, but it is enough to make a disappointing experience...

2.0 out of 5 stars Good phone, bad battery time, overly sensitive speaker position, September 15, 2008

I like the features of this phone, but its battery time is terrible, and that's the first reason why I'm rating it low. The owner's manual says it has standby time of up to 270 hours (which is 11.25 days). However, my experience is that it lasts 2 days or less, even when the phone isn't used.

I wondered if it was just a bad battery, so my service provider swapped in a new battery, but it gave the same disappointing result. For me, this is a serious annoyance. My previous phone, a Motorola v-180, lasted 5 - 8 days, even when it was used a lot (under the same conditions as this Nokia).

My other complaint is that, every time I use this phone, I have to carefully adjust the position of the phone against my ear in order to find the spot where the sound is clear. This has not been an issue with previous phones.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dont Buy!, September 13, 2008
This review is from: Nokia 6263 Phone (T-Mobile) (Wireless Phone)
Have had this phone for a month. The battery life is awful and I have to dial out a call 3 times for it to go through. Also the earpiece quality is not that great and people on the other end of the call says it sounds like im in a tunnel when im talking to them. I used to always buy nokia phones buy lately they've been poorly reliable. The only good thing about this phone is the camera, but i didnt buy the phone to take pictures, i bought it to make calls.

The screen is small but extremely clear and bright.
The phone function is fine, no problem with the sound and the loudspeaker works fine.
Radio function is nice but you have to use headphones to get reception.
T-Mobile locked the multimedia features so you have to buy from them which is crap. If you don't buy from them, then the pictures, videos and ringtones you already have won't work, therefore, the multimedia function is useless. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I don't think so.
3G is either not in service or is extremely slow. No faster than my old blackberry edge network.
I wouldn't buy this phone for other than a cell phone.

1.0 out of 5 stars Please do not buy this phone, June 17, 2009

This review is from: Nokia 6263 Phone (T-Mobile) (Wireless Phone)
It really is a disgrace this phone was released to consumers-it honestly freaks me out that I depend on this thing as a means of communication and that I might have to rely on it in any kind of emergency situation. The phone has several issues-each one glaringly annoying, but all of them combined makes me wonder if it is some kind of elaborate stunt to test the patience of the buying public. I just want to emphasize for the record I am not some really finicky tech person-I just want a semi-competent phone, nothing more, and this one is just really unacceptable.

-The volume of the earpiece cuts out completely at random-I am on my 2nd handset and it has the exact same problem. In the middle of conversation-boom-you can't hear anything-unless you put it on speakerphone, which may not be optimal if you're somewhere in public, at work, etc. Sometimes the issue will go away for a week, then the phone will not work for a day, sometimes it flicks on and off 10X in one phone conversation. At any rate, you just never know when you will be speaking to someone and they will vanish and you're yelling "What?! I'm sorry-it's my phone!"-at a prospective employer-or you're having to put your phone on Speaker in a quiet office while getting test results back from your doctor. Not good times. You should be able to hold a conversation over a phone-that is its primary function.

-The battery life is truly remarkably short for a phone released in what-2008? It's ridiculous-the thing has to be recharged every single night, if you forget a charger on an overnight trip, forget it, you're going to have a dead phone, even if you don't talk or do anything on it. I've never had a phone that had such a short battery life, and I have had some LOUSY phones. Again, if you get this phone, you are always going to be in a race against it going dead, constantly.

-Hey, know what's a neat thing to do?! Customize your phone! That's right-take a couple pictures-maybe put your own wallpaper on there-add some ringtones so when such-and-such friend calls it plays the theme to "who's the boss", etc...well, guess what-the Nokia 6263 lets you do all that-and then late at night, while you sleep-it just resets itself! So now you have a pure white background, all the stuff you customized is gone, etc. Totally sweet. Who would want to save all that stuff? The WORK of customizing a cell phone is its own reward, I say.

-Also, the camera takes horrid, horrid pictures, but this is a cell phone, and judging it for its failings as a camera when it fails so spectacularly as a cell phone seems like piling on.

Anyways, I am a reasonable human being, I am not easily angered. I have nearly thrown this phone into traffic. I have secretly hoped it would fall into the toilet so that I would have to purchase a new phone from t-mobile. It embarrasses me that I get upset by an inanimate object, but perhaps THAT is the glory that Nokia was hoping to achieve when they built this phone-perhaps it is actually an elaborate social experiment. When I went to T-mobile with the phone's significant problems, the only thing they were willing to do was send me the exact same phone, which soon had the exact same problems.

Other than that, hey, great phone.

2.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy it, June 4, 2009
This review is from: Nokia 6263 Phone (T-Mobile) (Wireless Phone)
I've had this phone almost a year and I hate it. The battery life sucks and the sound quality is pathetic. to hear anything I have to use the blue tooth. The only reason I upgraded is because this is supposed to have better signal strength, which it doesn't. I liked my 6101 so much better, it even took better photos. Unfortunately, it wasnt' bluetooth compatable.
I'd think twice before I bought this phone. You can't see what time it is since the lettering is in white and you can't change that. Nokia must have had their heads up their butts when they made this phone.

1.0 out of 5 stars Nothing but Disappointment, September 10, 2008
This review is from: Nokia 6263 Phone (T-Mobile) (Wireless Phone)
I ordered this phone with great expectation. It disappointed me in every way. Just to name a few:
1. The headset fell apart piece by piece within one month. I hardly use the headset during that time;
2. The headset is 2.5 mm instead of 3.5 mm so you can't just buy a normal replacement. You have to get a special adapter;
3. After using it for a few months, the keys feel like they are ready to fall out;
4. One nice thing is that the phone is customizable, but the bad thing is that it is hard to customize. Things are hidden in funny locations of the menu, sub-menu and sub-sub menu...;
5. The Worse feature is voice command. When you entered a name, the phone tags it electronically for you. You have to say it exactly as the phone programmed it. If you want to call AAA, try a grunt!!! I have experiment with it for a few hours and I still cannot get it to dial. It is so ineffective that I don't even bother to use it. I have to dial the number or look from the phonebook... talk about hands-free driving!! (On my old phone two generations ago, I can program it to my voice and the accuracy rate is 100%! With the Nokia advance technology, the success rate is 2%. JUNK!!);
6. The volume is not very loud, it is hard to hear. Even with loudspeaker, it is very quiet;
7. The camera quality is mediocre, at best.

Conclusion: One word: Disappointing.
There are many other phones on the market. Don't even consider this one.
