Not bad, a decent performer.,

It is a stylish, one piece design, lay flat in the pocket, of a bluetooth headset.
I've been using Bluetooth headset for about 4 years now; Motorola is OK but short talk and standby time. Sony Ericsson is pretty good, but not too sturdy. Jabra has a charger loose connector problem. Nokia? So far, so good. Mind you, bluetooth headset provides only a paired connection to the cell phone, the rest is performed by the phone; if a phone has voice dialing, than you can use it to do voice dialing, just make sure it is enabled on the phone. Once it is enabled, the button on the headset acts as the call/hang up button on the phone. My Sony Ericsson S700i does not have re-dial voice command, but this Nokia headset can send 2 beeps to have the phone perform such function, not bad! One good thing about this headset is that it will connect to the nearest previously paired phone without re-pairing again like the other headset. That is good if you have 2 or more phones with bluetooth like I do. I paired each phone individually with the headset, and carry only one phone at a time, but always carry the headset, and I can use it with either phone without pairing again.

sound to low for outside use,

Item works great indoors but the sound is too quiet, I thought about having my hearing checked but after reading other reviews I learned its not just me. I work in building construction with lots of loud noises and can't hear unless I press it unconfortabally into my ear. Do not recomend

I loved the comfort and ease of use of this headset. I especially liked that I could use my Nokia chargers for it. Some drawbacks after about 3 months use were: the volume was always too low! Even at the highest level, (and my excellent hearing)I had to press the ear mike into my ear while talking. This made my "hands free" a "one-handed earpiece". The function buttons on the top side of the earpiece were a problem to find while driving. All the buttons were tiny and felt the same - adjustments were troublesome. The answer/hangup function on the bottomside of the boom was convenient however, as was the comfort of the piece and the fact that I did not have a plastic/rubber thing in my ear (which I find distasteful). The charge time did not seem to match the specs. The piece had to be recharged frequently and did not hold much of a charge between uses. In all, I would actually put up with the shortcomings again in exchange for the comfort and design but the volume issue is a disapointing dealbreaker.

I really liked how the Nokia sat on my ear and didn't move around. It was clear to listen to but sounded fuzzy to the other person. After leaving myself a couple of messages to hear how I sounded, it went back to the store. C'est la vie.

Needs More Volume...,
This review is from: Nokia HS-4W Bluetooth Headset (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I chose this bluetooth headset after my corded Nokia Boom headset and Jabra Boom headsets broke. I use a Nokia 6230 (great phone) and previously had a Nokia 6610 (also a great phone).
I prefer the behind the ear headset over the bug in the ear versions. I chose this set because the sound quality and comfort of the corded boom was excellent and my overall satifaction with all Nokia products I have owned. I also liked the fact that I could charge the headset with my existing Nokia phone adapter. 1 less thing to carry. After I received the headset I charged it up and began using it. Connecting it to the phone was easy and connection quality is solid. I have not experienced any drops. Those I talk to can here me loud and clear. While I am very pleased with this product on many levels, I cannot recommend it. The audio is not loud enough. I do not have any hearing problems and have never had issues with volume from other headsets. Like another reviewer mentioned, unless you are in a quiet environment, you have to push the speaker closer to your ear to hear conversation clearly. This defeats the purpose of a hands free headset and makes the product almost useless to me since I use the headset primarily in the car and while outside. I plan on trying the Jabra BT250v. The pop port connector on my corded Jabra headset broke, but I did like the ear gel concept. It focused the speaker into my ear and could always here callers well without the phone volume on max. The Jabra has the same behind the ear design I like. This combined with the ear gel should provide good audio quality. The downside of the Jabra is that I will have to carry an additional AC adapter to power it up.

Poor audio quality,

I am happy with this product with one exception: It needs more volume. I have good hearing but this thing is hard to hear. If I have to keep pressing it in to my ear, what good is it? I would not recommend buying this thing unless you only want to look stylish because you won't be able to hear anything unless it is dead quiet outside.

Works good,

I bought this headset almost a year back. It is working well all this time.
Initially I had some problems when I switched it off. My cellphone will go on mute, its because the headset has the same button for mute & turning it off. Then I followed the proper method of switching it off i.e. disconnect it from my cell & then turning the power down. It also got disconnected few times during calls, but that was very rare. Overall its a good one. The design is very comfortable & light, you won't even realize that you are wearing it. The audio quality is better than when I talk directly from my phone. I would recommend this.

Totally agree with other reviewers that point out the fact that the sound level, even at max volume, is barely audible. Completely useless in a car unless you press it uncomfortably deep into your ear AND hold it there. So much for hands-free! Why won't Nokia recognize this problem and either fix it or come out with a version that works?

I bought the Nokia HS-4W Boom Headset.
It worked for 10 days, and I had the same problem that Itai Lustgarten "remeraz" (Israel) had. However, I took it to a local technical service store, and they fixed it. Has worked without problems since. They said that a cable was loose. Oscar Foianini |
