Plus, at least in my opinion, Windows 8.1 is better than ios and android.

I have owned many phones from Motorola to Nokia (Old School versions) then i went to iPhones (4 and 4s). I have also owned blackberry bolds and many Samsung phones (S2, Note 2, and S5). I stated the phones i owned before, so that you can have a good idea of my personal phone experience. My wife lost her phone and i wanted to try the new Nokia 930, so i gave her my Samsung S5. It was a very good decision because this phone is awesome. Windows 8.1 is a very good phone OS, i would say it is better than iOS and Android when it comes to social media integration, user interface and just overall fun to use. The 930 is built very very well and internal hardware functions well with the OS. I'm giving the 930 five stars because it exceeded my expectation (greatly) and its a beautiful phone.

This is my third Nokia in a row, having had an E71 then Lumia 800 before this new Lumia 930 (a dalliance with an iPhone 5 for a few months last year was a blip in my ownership radar). The E71 drove me mad until I resigned myself to the vagaries of the Symbian O/S. But I stuck with it for the `killer app' which for me was Nokia's free on-phone Sat Nav, which was light years ahead of everything else at the time.

The Lumia 800 improved usage of Microsoft Office, but the Sat Nav software went backwards big time and Windows Phone v7 was at least a generation behind iOS and Android.

So here I am with the Lumia 930, Nokia's flagship device running Windows Phone 8.1 and after a week it is already a much better phone that the 800. Plus, I don't have to suffer the annoyance of having some aging rock stars album installed on the phone behind my back! (OK, that was a cheap shot, but seriously Apple, you've picked up the arrogance that Microsoft dropped.)

Physically, the 930 is a much larger phone than the 800. Indeed, the 930s 5" screen is pretty much the surface area of the complete 800. It is heavier as well, which you notice, and where the 800 is rounded with curves, the 930 is square and sharp. I certainly do not find it as comfortable to hold in my hand, though I am getting used to it. Fitting it into my jeans pocket is another thing altogether and for that size really does matter. It is uncomfortable in the front pockets and sticks out the back of the rear, so where my 800 was so svelte that I occasionally `lost' it in my pockets, there is no chance of that with the 930.

I never had a problem with the 800s screen, it was bright and sharp and coped very well in bright sunlight. The 930 is better.

Unique simplicity and modern is best to describe this phone. Excellent quality build that comes with a top camera and fluid and very elegant OS. The touch screen is the best I've used that can be used with ease even with gloves on. The sound is excellent too with great audio recording features: Nokia Rich Recording with four microphones, Nokia Rich Recording with Surround Sound. With W8.1 now having 'Swip' keyboard which feels more accurate compared to all Android phones I've used, inc my now Xperia Z2. Live tiles are informative and look great. Apps are plenty with less bloatware apps compared with Android/iOS where many apps do the same thing, but still W8P still has all the popular apps: Facebook, What's App, Netflix, BBCiplayer, 4oD, Spotify, Instagrams...etc. The store continues to add new apps with some excellent Nokia apps already built into the Lumia. Bing apps are great too: News, Weather, Sport, Fitness & Health, Travel, Food are all very clean and polished looking and very easy to navigate. Standard lockscreen is informative - this can be further altered and customised using the Lockmix app. NFC is built in and can be useful(Use Nokia apps for writing NFC tags - I use it for Nokia Mixradio to go to a 3 different chosen artist radio mix and then send it to a NFC speaker, also cab number on with tag on home phone if ever needed). Accessories from Nokia like the wireless speakers that has a 15hr charge where you can send you music by Bluetooth/NFC, speaker wireless phone charger - listen to your Lumia music while charging phone, and the upcoming tags where you attach tags to personal items, eg: keys, bags, phones, bike, lap-tops, tablets, phones..Read more ›

I have had this phone for over a month and used it on my 19 day European vacation. I have to tell you that it's the BEST phone I have ever had. The pictures it takes are amazing. The living images combined with the storyteller app really just blow your mind. A still photo says a lot but adding the movement you get with living images adds that extra dimension to really convey the feeling of the subject matter. I highly recommend this phone to anyone living in the US even though you won't get full 4G since it's designed with European LTE bands and not the US bands. I happen to be connected to WiFi the majority of the time so it's not an issue for me. I have ATT and I just had to have the sim card cut to nano size and insert into the device. If you do this do not advise ATT that you switched devices. They will want the IMEI # and since it isn't designed or the US you may have connection issues. Just insert the nano SIM and you will be good to go!! Everyone who saw this phone in action wanted one.
