PD-95G Camera Grip & Extra Battery for Lumia 1020 - Black

Customer Reviews

The Nokia grip is a great add-on to my Lumia 1020.

This accessory is the perfect complement to use the lumia 1020 like a photographic camera and to give extra battery while you take pictures.
Daniel Gamez Aguado
The extra battery can't be charged any more probably because the USB connection is having issue.

It's a good idea, taking pictures and record video on this beast comes with a price. It will take the battery down (specially on video mode).

It adds a good 30 up 40% of extra batter, it gives more weight to the phone which gives you more stability.

The down side? The lumia 1020 is not heavy at all, it fits perfectly into your pocket. But with this on, it increase the weight. Makes it more difficult to fit into your pockets...

Summary: When I go out, my friends are asking me to take pictures with my phone, since the quality is superior than their smartphones. Taking this extra battery really help, but don't expect to carry the thing attach to your phone 24/7. that's something you will use once twice a week.

This fits like it is supposed to. Slide the Lumia 1020 onto the microUSB male connector and work the end clips over the other end and the cover is installed. If the Lumia 1020 is not fully charged the battery that is internal to the PD-95G immediately begins to recharge the phone. The cover is not going to come off the phone accidentally under most conditions. It takes a bit of work to remove. The included instructions indicate the precise way to go about remoiving it. If you are not planning on doing a lot of photogrqaphy or if the photography you are planning to do does not require a tripod I'd leave the grip home. It adds weight and bulk to an already large phone. If you are going to be using a tripod or have an extensive shooting scheduled this has you covered. The additional battery, especially with a phone where the battery is not readily removeable, is a huge gain.

The microUSB female port on the grip is used to recharge the grip's battery. There are four white LEDs that show the state of charge and a button that activates the LEDS. That is about it for controls and indicators. There is also a standard tripod mount on ther base of ther grip. No need for the accessory tripod phone mount needed with the 808 Pureview.

The phone feels good in the hand with the grip. The shutter button is easy to activate. The camera button is two step and works effortlessly, perhaps a bit too effortlessly as I've taken many unintended photos with it until I became more aware of its sensitivity.

The phone fits securely in the case, so securely that it takes few seconds to remove properly. I used this all day at the Kansas City Zoo and Kaufman Gardens in KC, MO and my battery lasted all day with the additional battery in the case. I use this once or twice per week when I know I'm going to take a lot of pictures. It does make the phone more bulky but the phone feels like a solid point and shoot with DSLR quality photos at short and medium distances. The grip is fantastic and moves the picture taking button to a more comfortable location. Overall, I appreciate the extra battery power, comfort in taking pictures, and secure fit.

Very nice camera grip turns your Lumia 1020 to pretty much a semi-pro style camera. Definitely useful when going on vacation and don't want to lug around another good camera.

Only wish they made a belt case to hold the camera grip/phone together. I'll keep searching.

I've always hated how the "take picture" button was a touch screen button. Why?--because you end up taking less stable pictures because you're holding the phone with one hand and pressing the button/manually focusing with the other hand. Luckily I don't take many pictures so it wasn't a big deal; however, my fiancee hated it. She would always complain about blurry pictures because she couldn't hold the camera steady enough with one hand, but now picture time is much easier. In addition she doesn't have to worry about destroying her battery life taking pictures because the grip itself is another battery. I only wish the phone used induction charging from the grip to the phone because I'm afraid someone will detach the phone incorrectly and break the charging port. As far as size goes: the camera grip does add a good bit of weight and size onto the phone, but she always puts the phone in her purse anyway, so hopefully the size won't turn into a problem. Let me know if you have any questions!

Ok, I was definitely skeptical a battery and a case but at 82.00?
WOW that is a lot of money!
I will say that I am not dissapointed in this at all the case gives my
cell phone an automatic charge when it starts to get low. This is great
for me because I am that person who uses their phone so much the battery
always seems dead.
The case covers the phone well minus one area.
I would have liked to see the case wrap the top edge too.. as it is easy to
damage your phone there. But none of the covers do for this phone unless
you buy an otterbox, which are bulky and don't charge your phone for you.
I will say that the first day that I had this on, I dropped my phone onto a blacktop
surface and the case stayed on the phone and was not damaged or scratched.

This camera grip designed for the Lumia 1020 is a joy to use. I've been on a few trips/excursions and it is much better to use the grip when taking a ton of pictures. The 2-stage button doesn't sit directly on top of the camera button on the phone if you're wondering. It works via usb when the phone sits in its slot. Plus you can't go wrong with having an additional 1020mAh. There is a push button indicator that tells you how much battery power you have left as well.
