Product Description

This is the original model of NomadPlus. We are offering a substantial discount in order to clear out old inventory. The main difference from this and the newer model is that the battery status indicator lights are green instead of white, and that the lights themselves are slightly dimmer. This still has 1800mAh of battery. Units come uncharged. These work with all US style Apple USB wall plugs (the charger that ships with all models of iPhone). This is a limited time offer available while supplies last. NomadPlus is an innovative 2-in-1 charging solution. Ideal for travel, it adds an 1800 mAh battery to your Apple USB wall plug (American outlets) - and it can charge any smartphone or other USB-powered devices. NomadPlus charges your phone first, then recharges its own internal battery, ensuring your phone is ready to go when you are. Product did not work. No matter how hard I tried to make sure the Apple charging adapter was correctly inserted into the Nomad, it would provide only an intermittent trickle of charge to the I-phone, and would not fully charge it. Very disappointing.

Well mine didnt work.
I do not know why however I only have one apple iphone charger so it may still work with other iphone chargers. Anyway... the battery itself is way too small and may not be practical. The idea iself is pretty cool but still not worth it.

I bought two of these, one for myself and one to give my 77-year-old mom. After testing both, my main concerns are 1.) the amount of heat that is generated when plugged into the wall to charge the battery with or without the iPhone attached; and 2.) the difficulty an elderly person would have inserting and extricating the Apple plug into and out of the NomadPlus. The instructions on the inside of the box show how to pull it out of the wall outlet to leave the Apple plug in it as well as how to separate the two plugs, leaving the Apple plug still in the outlet. This was helpful. However, given that many wall outlets are not in the best of locations to begin with such as behind furniture or require bending over to reach them, it is still a pain to deal with. I found I could get around the heat issue by using a USB extension cable and plugging the NomadPlus sans Apple plug into the cable which I then plugged into the charging outlet of my USB hub. This worked well to charge the battery of the NomadPlus by itself without heat issues. I did not test charging the NomadPlus via the USB extension cable with the iPhone attached. My plan is to keep the NomadPlus in my purse for charging when I'm away from wall outlets, computer hubs, and car chargers. Then when I'm back home, I'll bring the NomadPlus to 100% using the USB extension cable plugged into my USB hub.

Three green indicator lights flash when charging to show an approximation of how much charge is stored. When 1/3 is reached, one light glows constant; when 2/3 is reached, two lights glow. The unit turns itself off when 100% charged. There is a tiny button in the center of the light array to turn the unit on and off.

I'm sure it's an economical energy storage alternative, but I got a dud. Got it in the hopes of using it to put one of my spare iphone chargers to use but even with the functionality, I'm not really impressed.

Not impressed at all. There are no instructions other than the images on the lid of the box. I found that the internal battery drains even when not in use. I will try it for a few more weeks and see.

Awesome product I think there's an issue with mine not charging up all the way but still a neat idea. I only had two issues with it. The first being the part that holds the wall wart into it is wayyyyy too tight I think that the product would be fine without and its unclear to me why they put the grip in the hole to begin with as the USB connector will keep it in just fine. My other issue was the capacity, its a novelty item at the capacity it has, for something this big I would expect the battery to be at least 5000maH but this is only 1800mah which is enough to charge my HTC one M7 to 69%.
TL:DR Great idea needs refined a bit to make an awesome Gen two product

This is a battery system that you slide in your iPhone charger to a male USB cable then charge from the wall. The Apple adapter is held in snugly and the battery takes about an hour to charge. A nice touch is a glowing circle divided into 1/3s denoting how much charge the battery has: 33%, 66% or 99%. It's saved by bacon a few times where I've forgotten to charge my iPhone 6 Plus, recharging in about 30 to 40 minutes I suppose. It takes any USB cable so you could easily use it with any type of device. I'm always keeping this charged up and in my backpack.

Shipped to me much faster than anticipated also.
