The bed arrived at my doorstep in an impressive four days, and is a decent product for the price.(we bought the queen-sized of the same bed) It came in one very heavy carton and it was easy to assemble. Once assembled, the bed has pleasing clean lines that remind me of Scandinavian furniture--though it could take on other character, depending on how you stain it. The wood is nearly white with a slight yellow yellowish cast, as expected of poplar. Five stars for amazing delivery and four stars for good value for price.

However, I must severely downgrade this product for misleading advertising. The ad reads, "...smooth, clean, unfinished poplar hardwood, not pine." First of all, the wood is actually rough, particularly at the board ends, and not be "beautiful as is". Be prepared to sand it well if you want a beautiful bed; and finish it with stain, paint or "Danish oil" for smoothness and protection.

Secondly, the comparison of pine verses poplar is deceptive. Poplar trees are classified as a "hardwood" because the trees are deciduos, whereas pine trees are called "softwood" trees because they are conifers. However, SOME "hardwood trees"--such as poplar or balsa--produce wood that is soft and SOME "softwood pines"--like cedar or spruce--produce wood that if hard. Moreover, not all kiln produces better wood. (And, it unfortunately produces toxic emissions.)

Kudos for the solid wood, though, and the "made in U.S.A".

Now, about many uses of the bed: I purchased it to hold our nice old high-density foam mattress that we relegated to the guest room--a thrifty solution for this need--but it could just as easily hold a traditional mattress, futon or "memory foam" mattress. I am a big fan of foam mattresses, my favorite being the expensive, though comfortable and durable natural latex mattress. A bed with strong slats like this it ideal for foam because it needs to "breathe."

Overall, the bed is a good, sturdy product for an excellent price, keeping in mind these caveats. I hope this helps you with your choice. Enjoy!

I've been looking for a twin platform bed for about a month, and most of what I've found was too expensive, or if it was low price, had bad reviews due to the difficulty in assembling the bed. This bed looked great in the picture, and the price was just what I wanted to spend, however there was no customer feedback, so I was a little worried about buying something that would be difficult to assemble. When I got the bed I asked my daughter to help me put it together, in case there were issues, but while I was reading the one page instructions, she reviewed the parts and then told me we didn't need the instructions. She was right, it took ten minutes to put it together, all of the pieces come together with ease, no pounding, pushing, struggling to make things fit. The bed itself is beautiful, looks just like the picture, is sturdy, and well designed. Overall this was an excellent buy.

I love this little bed. I just wanted a simple little twin platform to put in my little studio apartment. I was worried when it arrived and I saw how insubstantal it seemed. I am a 260 lb male. I thought no way is this going to work. But I have to say that now after having it for 2 months I am amazed at the solidity of this little frame. I am very please with the quality.

This is a sturdy little bed that is really stronger than it looks! I brought this for my daughter after getting rid of her old bed frame (which was also a platform bed), and I wanted a replacement. I was looking for something that would last for a good while, but I wouldn't have to shell out a lot of money for it. Lo and behold, I came across this. After reading the reviews, I decided to take a chance on it. I was hoping that we could use my daughter's old mattress with it, since it is still in great condition and still very comfy. Well, needless to say, it was a perfect fit!

This solid hardwood frame made from poplar trees is very easy to assemble - it took me about 30 minutes to put it together. If you want to stain the wood in your favorite color and varnish it, you definitely can do that because the wood is in its natural state. You may want to sand down and smooth out some of the corners beforehand if that's your thing, but for me, in its natural state, it suits me just fine! I would have no hesitation about purchasing another one in a queen size with a headboard for myself if I needed one in the future. Highly recommended!!

Wood bed frames arrived by UPS, safe and sound. The assembly is a matter of all-wood, real wood pieces plus large bolts and circular metal nuts. About a dozen bolts. The Wood pieces consist of: a footer and a header (twin construction), two slats specifically for added bolt assembly and an extra 8 uniform slats for the remaining seats located in the wood rails--the frame. Because the slats sit close together and form a locked-in base; this Nomad frame stands way above other wood frames that my family and I have known.
The Nomad Hardwood frame is better than our metal frames. It doesn't wobble. It is firmer in support than a typical box spring/metal frame combination. You can lay a typical spring mattress on it, alone. We have, in fact, ditched our box springs. Now, I'm not a well person. In the last decade and a half; if I could achieve 3 hours of contiguous sleep; I would consider that a godsend. Normally, I've woken up in pain/discomfort. In need to reposition myself from a pressed sensation of too much spring pressure hitting my ribcage or kidney area. A reaction typical to spring mattress/box spring combos. Foam mattresses are great in winter and too sweaty in hotter weather. Now, I am getting better sleep, not quite a normal night, yet a better welcome experience. I am not hurting do to the woes of the old frames. This Nomad hardwood frame may look simple, may seem too easy on the wallet, may look too slender to hold large adults. It isn't. Unofficially, in the twin size---home tested to 275-lbs.
This is the best frame, my family and I have had since I was a kid---many more decades ago, when furniture choices had girth, quality, and smart design. My family and I purchased 2 of these frames. I highly recommend this Nomad wood bed frame. Made in USA? It shows, God bless these retailers.

LOVE this frame. We've had to take apart and put together a couple of times now and it is sooooo easy. It is very well designed and sturdy. We plan to purchase the queen size version soon for our other bed.

This is an excellent product! I ordered the Nomad Platform Bed Frame on Tuesday of this week (2-8-11) with standard shipping and it arrived at my house yesterday (2-10-11). There were no missing or broken parts, everything fit together correctly, and it was very easy to assemble. The frame itself is light, easy to maneuver, and very solid. It is unfinished wood but it is very smooth. If you like simple furniture designs, then you will find this product to be beautiful and aesthetically pleasing. Also, I have owned more expensive bed frames than this that were not NEARLY as well-made or durable. Overall, this is a high-quality piece of furniture that will last and is more than well-worth its price.

My mattress doesn't come until tomorrow but I am a 72year old woman and put this bed together all by myself. I'm so proud. Frist I put in upside down with slats on top but I took out bolts and turned over do mattress will be nestled. Maybe it's only me that did this but just in case, make sure you put the legs on the top and bottom pieces (head and foot piece) before attaching to bed. Still can't figure out what the wrench was for as I did not use. Ah ah moment! wrenc is to tighten bolts when I use a screw driver. Used wrench and now they are really tight.

This bed is great for kids sturdy and nice looking, it was very easy to put together. although I would not let anyone jump too much on the center of it since there isnt support to the floor it will bow in the middle but ours is holding up just fine just have to be careful. I figure you could put wood supports in the middle to help but as long as all you are doing is sleeping on it there should be no problem my 3 year old son loves this bed and it is his sisters when she is here. never had any complaints. Bought this three years ago for my then four year old. Very simple and was exactly what we were looking for. The only problem at the time was that we received two "left" legs and ended up just making do with it. Didn't seem to affect the structure at all. But now, the wood has swelled and the slats do not fit snugly anymore and are falling off continually. We haven't contacted the manufacturer yet but will be doing that soon. Will update as soon as we do.
