I bought this because the other reviews said it wasn't splintery. They're right... for a good cheap platform frame, it's pretty solid. It's quite high off the floor, which is great for storing stuff under it, but is a little odd for something that's futonic.
It's easy to put together, and the advice to tighten the screws again after the first few weeks is good advice. I've un-assembled this and re-assembled it, and it's still solid. This is a good buy.

My fiance and I searched every internet site and every furniture store around us looking for a platform bed. We couldn't find a single thing under $250, they were ALL made out of particle board and weighed over a 100 pounds! We were so excited when we found the Nomad bed that we ordered it immediately. The shipping took half as long as the predicted 12 days; although, there was no tracking, which was frustrating. On the morning of the fifth day as I was preparing to call Amazon to track down whether or not the bed had even shipped, it showed up on our front porch!
We set it up right then and there and it took us less than 15 minutes! It was sooo easy, all the pieces fit together perfectly! The screws, though they do show, have a dark finish on them so they actually look nice and give a natural, handmade look to a fairly contemporary bed. There are slats that your mattress sits on, so if you have a tempurpedic I would recommend getting some plywood to lay down, but our regular mattress has been fantastic without plywood. It's so nice not having to deal with a boxspring!
One of the best things about this bed is that even though it's a platform, you can store stuff under it! It's much higher off the ground than most platforms, so we could actually put drawers underneath!
All-in-all, buying this bed was the smartest purchase we ever made. The bolts screw into metal sockets, not the wood, so whenever we move we'll have no problem taking the bed apart and bringing it with us! It's going to be with us for a very long time!

I ordered this bed Tuesday afternoon and received it Friday. I assembled it by myself in just under an hour. It was a joy to assemble; the parts fit together just as described and the steps to assemble were simple. The assembled bed is very sturdy. I walked across it without the mattress on and I felt no weakness when applying my full weight (135 lbs) to a single slat. I had been concerned that the spacing between the slats would be noticeable through my 10 inch latex mattress, but that turned out to not be the case. I wasn't too excited about having four screws in the center of the head and foot boards of the bed, but a simple bed skirt hides them well.

The bed has become a welcome addition to my home!

Forget IKEA and its clones, this is an impressive platform bed for the price. I'm 6'3" 225# and this solid wood frame is a rock--no creaks or groans whatsoever. It was very easy to assemble and it looks great.

My only reservation would be for those who plan to use thinner (especially foam) mattresses since the central supports tend to stick up a bit higher than the rest of the platform. FWIW, I am using a standard 12" mattress.

I would buy this kit again in a heartbeat.

There isn't anything fancy about this bed frame and that's why I like it so much. It went together easily, took about 40 minutes all together, if you have two people, maybe 20 minutes. The directions are pretty good, just read through them before you start. I didn't finish mine at all yet. The color of the wood is really nice and it will need some time cure.

I've been sleeping on it for awhile and it's great. Firmed up the mattress and sturdy, no squeaking, etc. Good craftsmanship and a great price. If you are looking for a good base to create your own bed, this is a good choice.

Oh, it allows, just barely for a milk crate to slid under it on carpet so that's the height for storing.

center rails a good half inch higher than the slats causing a bump... Otherwise easy to put together and nice looking.

Very satisfied with this platform. Easy to assemble and extremely solid... good appearance... should be easy to finish in a stain of our choice. Almost assembled the frame with the matress slats and supports backwards but after looking carefully at the brief instructions got it right. Those reviewers who complained of a lump in the center of the matress because of the height of the central supports probably assembled the frame support slats backwards. At any rate our bed is most comfortable without any lumps caused by the frame.

Can recommend this product and this seller without reservation. Excellent quality, packaging, instructions and service. The frame was ordered on a Friday evening, shipped Monday and received on Wednesday. Easy to assemble and 1st rate hardware provided. All components were flawless. On top of everything else, it looks great!

I have to say I love this bed frame. It's so sturdy, and no screwing into wood means you can take it apart easily and re-assemble it without having to worry about breaking it. It doesn't creek or make noises, and worked perfectly as is for our memory foam mattress. Plus it's real wood!

The only downside is it was slightly bigger than our queen size mattress, and the edges can stick out and hurt if you hit them, many a stubbed toe.

This was delivered on Feb 13 and I just finished putting it together. I have to say that this is the easiest furniture assembly I have ever had. The bed is very solid and is very close to a design I was working on in my head when I got frustrated with finding a decent platform bed. This is a great bed for the money and it's stainable too! I might do that in the future but for now, I'll start looking for some nightstands to go with it:)
