One of my favorite CDs..., May 22, 2011
This review is from: Nomad's Notebook (Audio CD)
Nomad's Notebook is one of my favorite CDs, and I have a lot of CDs. I've been playing this CD a lot, ever since I bought it several years ago. It is possible that I've listened to it more than anyone else! It's absolutely great music, full of beautiful, atmospheric, moody and lyrical melodies and thoughtful improvisations. The evocative, world/ethnic inspired compositions and sounds are especially interesting in this particular jazz setting. Andy Middleton creates some of the most soulful and gorgeous sounding tones I've ever heard on his soprano and tenor saxophones. Every note he plays is meaningful. Andy is joined by a stellar cast including Ralph Towner, Dave Holland, Alan Jones, Jamey Haddad, Noah Bless & Henry Hey, making this an extremely unique sounding jazz album, performed and recorded to the highest artistic standards. I highly recommend it.
