Giving it to my employees - excellent summary of how to prep, September 14, 1999

This review is from: The Non-Extremist's Guide to Preparing Your Family for Y2K (Mass Market Paperback)
As an employer, I found this to be an excellent guide for my employees. We are doing everything possible in our business to prepare for Y2K, including educating (without alarming) our staff. I was surprised to learn that our staff had very little knowledge of Y2K. By providing them with this book, we were able to educate them, and hopefully, ensure a smoother transition into the year 2000 for us all.

Great! This book took me by the hand and explained precisely what I needed to do. I appreciated that the discussions were on my level (am I the only person on earth who didn't know exactly how to drain the water from my pipes until I read this book?) A good read.

Great source of rational help!!, May 21, 1999

I was so happy to find a book to help us, without trying to scare us! I knew we wanted to prepare but I was so tired of all of the hype out there. This book gave us straight talk about everything we were interested in, including our investments, our bank, appliances, how much food and water to store. As a mother, I was concerned about our kids, but the chapter on the special needs of children has provided some great advice, and has allayed my fears. This book is a sane, no-nonsense, and (thank you) no hype guide to Y2K.

More of a booklet than a book, May 2, 1999

It was way overpriced at $19.95. I guess it would be ok for beginners , but I found it bland .

An excellent book for step by step Y2K preparation, April 23, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Non-Extremist's Guide to Preparing Your Family for Y2K (Mass Market Paperback)
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was an easy read and did not spend a lot of time on how the "Y2K" problem came about, instead it provides a methodical approach to "Y2K" preparation. The information on how to safeguard my Social Security Information alone was worth the price of the book. A wise purchase.

Useful but overpriced, March 19, 1999

This review is from: The Non-Extremist's Guide to Preparing Your Family for Y2K (Mass Market Paperback)
I've read about 5 books on this subject and this particular title is pretty helpful. Unlike most others, it doesn't spend an overt amount of the text discussing the Y2K problem, or quoting endless "industry experts" on the risks and ramifications. The Driscoll's book takes a straightforward, bullet item approach to advice on steps you can take to prepare your family. It's a very easy read that just about anyone can understand. My biggest complaint about this book is its price. $19.95 is way out of line for a 60 page "booklet" that contains relatively basic information on disaster preparedness. I really struggle with even giving it a 3 stars based on the price. At $5, it would earn 5 stars.
