This story begins as though it was written for junior readers, but stay the course. What a great, complex tale. The children are depicted so well I felt I knew them all. The feeling for the settings was clearly heart-felt and what a great ending. The writer has written a book for all ages, and it can be purchased in English and read side by side if you should struggle with the Italian, but the Italian writing is not so advanced as to be overh-whelming. I'm now looking for the film that was made from this jewel of a book.

It is a really good book..especially for those of you who just became enrolled in Advanced Italian classes. It is really easy to read and it is a good story. Great writer

Through the eyes of the child protagonist, Michele, this story documents his discovery of a kidnapped child, originally from a rich family. Who had taken the child? Why is he so important? And at what cost does Michele befriend him?
