The colors are bright and beautiful, the picture really does not do it justice.

These tiles are colorful and soft for my 4 month-old. When they arrived they were really slippery and I skidded a few times walking on them on our hardwood floor. I had to put them in the bathtub and scrub them with dish soap to remove the residue. Now they are 100%. Good product, after you wash them.

the mat is very large which means you can split it into several smaller ones to place around the house (or take to nana's). i wish that the letters and numbers were not "pop out" pieces, because baby boy spits up a lot and the stuff gets in the cracks, which means i have to take it completely apart to clean it (which is often). but the padding is sufficient and so far is pretty durable.

I bought this when the baby was a few months old, to put under his little jungle gym, to insulate it from the cold tile floor. When the baby does tummy time, he's on it; same with rolling over & crawling practice. It's wonderfully thick--when learning to sit, the baby regularly falls over, so the cushioning is appreciated. I've had it set up many different ways: when the baby was tiny, we did a 4x4 square and the other pieces stayed in the box; as the baby's grown, we've made the mat bigger and bigger. We're not working on the alphabet yet, but I can picture it being lots of fun removing the letters and putting them back in. The colors are nice and bright, but not garishly over-saturated like in the product photo. The quality of construction is superb. It's been in daily use for over 4 months now and doesn't show any signs of wear, even though the puppy frequently walks on it with his sharp nails. It's been vacuumed & the pieces washed in the sink with dishwashing detergent several times, and it still looks as good as the day it arrived. It's pricey, but in this instance, you really do get what you pay for.

I bought this rug because we moved into a house with all hardwood floors and I didn't want my newly walking son to hit his head on the hard floor while he was still finding his legs.

I love it! It's a lot thicker than other mat sets. I actually bought a 2nd mat set because I liked this one so much and that one is thinner and not as good of quality. This mat is great. Thick. The letters are easy to remove if you want but they dont fall out (like the other one from a different company).

Very Colorful. Fun. I have the comfort of knowing my son can play in his room and run around and he wont hurt himself on the floor.

Great product, just a little pricy compared to the thinner mats. Bought it b/c it was the thickest. Spills seem to wipe off easily, as we do so immediately. A dried spill would probably be a different story.

Child doesn't crwal yet, but this mat will be more comfortable to crawl on vs the hard floors. Don't know about the separate available borders another reviewer mentioned that is available.

UPDATE Oct 2012) Had this product for one year. Got a second thick mat set to completely cover the hard wood floor between our sectional couch and wall mounted tv in the living room (coffee table removed for more unobstructed cushioned floor). Mat has saved our child from many injuries as she began to walk and fall. She once fell backwards from the couch, landing flat on her back, only with a surprised puzzled look of "what happend?" (Yes, bad parents, but it happend so fast.) After the fall from the couch, I can appreciate the this mat and reading an article that recommentds play mats to have a minimum thickness of 1/2 inch.

Only slight complaint is that the mat leaves a slippery residue/film where it contacts our hard wood floor. This is a nuasance, and will just require some thorough cleaning of the floor when the mat is no longer needed, and permanently removed in another year or two. I guess this film is a by product of the foam and the frequent pressures of our feet walking on the mat. Even with this issue, I still give it 5 stars; a thinner mat would likely not have prevented injury from our child's backward fall from the couch. A little Simple Green (or comparable safe degreaser), cotton cloth, and some gently "scrubbing," should take care of this slippery film.

Thankful our child doesn't chew any section of the mat as another person experienced. However, our child does like to remove squares, letters, and numbers; I guess the joys of parenting/toddlerhood.

We have purchased this mat twice and may purchase it a few more times to expand the "kingdom." It is the thickest mat we have found and it is easy to clean with the organic cleaner and swiffer. The dog loves it, the kid loves it and it supports the toppling that is now the rage as the boy launches and explores on hands, knees, feet and occasionally head. We use it on concrete and brick and it is appropriate protection for both if you can be brave and not surround your young prince or princess exclusively with mounds of pillows and soft landings. It doesn't avoid all tears but it helps create a very reasonable learning environment that what goes up, must come down.

I thought they were sturdier, but the little teeths of our baby boy were able to take small bites out of the corners of the letters.
I guess we need to watch him carefully when he snaps the letters out from the sockets.
