a brilliant story, an amazing concept,
By
This review is from: Nonesuch (Paperback)
This is a great read that sucks you right in and wont let you go until you find out what happens in the end. The concept is brilliant - suffice to say that cats feature prominently in the plot, but not in a way that you ever would have imagined!
It is part fantasy and part creepy eerie horror (not the rubbish murder blood hack stalking, but the subtle unseen dark essences at work, moving stuff around and playing with your mind). Feline heroes join with the poor victimised humans of this weird and evil house, and introduce us to the parallel world that they inhabit when they look as if they are lazing around looking fat and unemployed all day. Our dreams are the key. Parallel worlds, essences of evil long past, ghostly malaevolent presences, and a finale that will knock your socks off are themes in this ever-so-entertaining novel. Oh, and cats. I'm a fan of CSI, Kathy Reichs, Linda Fairstein and all good criminal/mystery, but this unique story had me suckered in the whole way through. It's not the usual - it's in a class of its own. Fantasy-cat-horror maybe??? Sci-fi-moggy?? Loved it. You will never look at a cat in the same way again.

Though I enjoyed this book, I found parts of it a chore to read. Though it hooked me right away, the
story seamed to stray at times, before coming back and catch my attention. |
