I read this book and got some treatment suggestions which the local pulmonary physicians had not heard of. Very useful, professional resource.

Very few medical professionals, less that 1%, understand the impact that neuromuscular conditions (including Post Polio Sequelae) have on the respiratory drive; in fact, they rarely associate the two. This physician-author is the world expert, and everyone involved in neuromuscular conditions, including patients, caregivers, and the medical profession must read his pbulications to save lives.Too many people in this health category are being misdiagnosed, or ignored, and diagnosed with a "Sleep Disorder" or wrongly put on Oxygen, when in fact, their diaphragm and/or intercostal muscles are insufficent to help them expel CO2; however, most Respiratory Therapists do know this and also that Sleep Studies cannot diagnose Shallow Breathing. Dr. Bach must be listened to if 1000s in the world are to be not only saved, but treated humanely. |
