Great Resource for Researchers,
By Ed Barks "Author of The Truth About Public Sp... (Washington, D.C.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Nonverbal Communication in Human Interaction (with InfoTrac) (Paperback)
This is a terrific compilation of research into nonverbal communication. It is a thoroughly sourced review of writings on nonverbal topics, tending toward a psychological, academic tone.
Note: If you are seeking original research, Knapp's and Hall's book would be a good reference aid. However, in this work they are content to primarily synthesize the work of others. That said, they do a marvelous job of collecting and reporting on a wealth of valuable insights.

Great information, uninspiring presentation,
By Superbug Safety "Full-Throttle Metabolism" (Salt Lake City, UT) - See all my reviews

I can't argue with the reviewers who point out that Knapp and Hall are two very distinguished scholars who know their stuff. I also can't argue with the fact that this book is very thorough, jam-packed with fascinating information, and one of the most useful guides you can get about the many different aspects of nonverbal human communication. What I will say is that this book is painfully DULL. The authors try to liven things up by adding a humorous story or a joke on occasion, but the feel of the book remains like a textbook in the worst possible sense. It's faceless, lifeless, and hard to finish. It's a crime that such fascinating information has to be delivered in such a dry, tiresome style. Get this book if you're interested in nonverbal, but also keep a cup of coffee handy.

Got the book after only a day or so from when the order was placed. Good condition. Some normal wear and tear and a couple of stickers. Highlighter marks will prevent a resale to a bookstore after the semester though.

Great book... some sections weak on outside support,
This review is from: Nonverbal Communication in Human Interaction (Paperback)
This is a great reference book for students interested in nonverbal communication. Some of the facts seemed to be what the author has observed... outside of published research. A few sections had very little citations at all which made me wonder where the information was coming from. Otherwise, great for learning terms and easy to read.

Classic work in the field of nonverbal communication,
By Kate McMurry "Young Adult Author" (United States) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (TOP 500 REVIEWER)
This review is from: Nonverbal Communication in Human Interaction (Paperback)
Dr. Knapp has been a distinguished scholar in the field of communication for the past 35 years. This is a very small sampling of his honors: He is a Fellow of the International Communication Association and has served as its President. He received the Distinguished Scholar Award from the Speech Communication Association in l993 and served as President of that association in l989-90. Dr. Knapp is the author of many articles and several books besides this one, including: Interpersonal Communication and Human Relationships (with A. Vangelisti) and Handbook of Interpersonal Communication (with G. Miller). Dr. Knapp has acted as consultant, lecturer, and trainer for over fifty different business organizations, voluntary groups, and government agencies. He is currently a Professor in the Communication Department at the University of Texas at Austin. ...Dr. Hall has also been a well-respected scholar for over 20 years. She obtained her Ph.D. at Harvard and is a professor in the Department of Psychology at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, where she teaches social-personality psychology, interpersonal and nonverbal communication, gender differences and health psychology. She has published many scholarly articles and books on the subject of nonverbal communication... Nonverbal Communication in Human Interaction is a textbook used in communication and psychology departments at universities all over the country. It is considered a classic work in the field of nonverbal communication. Whether you are just beginning to read about this topic or you have studied it extensively, this book will be useful to you. There is an index, a comprehensive table of contents, extensive footnotes and lists of further readings on this subject at the end of every chapter. In short, if you read this book, you can be sure that you have gained thoroughly accurate, up-to-date and comprehensive information on the subject of nonverbal communication. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

so, the book was totally fine. Intact, not missing pages, in pretty good condition. College is so expensive and I just started playing around here online, and notice that amazon marketplace has some pretty inexpensive books so here I am. I am estatic to not waste more than $140.00 on books this semester I only habe 9 classes to go. Product was great, shipping method, great.

Slow Read But Worth the Wait,
This review is from: Nonverbal Communication in Human Interaction (with InfoTrac) (Paperback)
this book is an excellent source for information on nonverbal communication. it presents some ideas in a way that I have never heard them discussed before. this book is a little difficult to read through if you are not interested in the subject, but the quality of the information is wonderful.

It's enough to read the table of contents - and you're amazed, astonished of possibilities to communicate without the words! I just can't imagine how it would be to read the whole book... Super, turbo, extra, lux!
