I got this game for my 4 year old nephew and it was a HUGE hit. The object is to collect the foods you need to have a picnic and match them to your spaces on the board. But you have to remember to say "please and thank you" otherwise you lose your turn. It's so nice to see a game that's fun and that teaches valuable lessons. And as a bonus it came with a book that we read about 6 times in one sitting and a cd with songs that he is still singing! Great game I would highly recommend. Keep up the good work Playskool.

The Noodleboro picnic basket manners game is a good game to teach kids about good manners. Kids have to remember to keep saying "please" and "thank you". It helps to establish good manner through repetition of saying those words. The game rule is simple. It's ok for a three year old kid but a little boring for a five or six year old.

I'm so sorry to see this game being clearanced out! This is one of two Noodleboro games we purchased for our boys (ages 6, 4 and 9 months) for the holidays.
This was purchased with my 4 year old stepbaby in mind, though his 6 year old brother found himself enjoying it, too! It's SUPER simple. This is a game for kids who have a hard time processing rules of more complicated games. Basically, you put the tokens in the picnic basket. On each turn the player asks, "May I have a token, please?" and you respond, "Yes, you may." They take a token which is either a picnic item of their color, another player's color, or an ant. They either keep the token or discard it. Then the player says, "Thank you." To win, you collect each of your color picnic items. The boys LOVED "catching" their daddy and myself not using our manners! Ok, we pretended and over-emphasized so they'd catch it, but they had fun! Sometimes we'd slip in, "gimme a token!" or "I wannnnnnnaaaaa token!" in the way that they ask for things so that they'd recognize some of their own poor behaviors. It's not a forever game. I think that most kids can easily start playing this when they start becoming interested in games, no matter what age is written on the box. I'd start them on this one even before Candyland, if that describes the simplicity enough. I'm definitely going to keep this game for the baby to enjoy when he's old enough.

Our almost four year old son thought this game was fun the first time we played but was bored by the second time we took it out. Now he doesn't choose this game when it's family game time.
Basically each player has several tokens they place in a cute picnic basket. In turn you pull a token out of the basket (without looking.) You must use your manners and request to pull a token. If you forget to use your manners then you don't get to pull a token. If your token matches your picnic then you place it on your picnic area. If it is an ant or another players token, then it's placed on the center of the blanket for another player to use in turn. The game is sturdy and very cute but it did not hold my son's attention for repeated playing.

I got this game for my little girl. She loves playing it with me, and she also loves the game. I love the game because it teaches her manners. She now says Thank you...I love that. This Mommy is now smiling.

Overall, the game itself is just ok. My son and I just play and match the discs to the board. But the big winner is the CD and the book. I was able to find this toy in a store on clearance at dirt cheap price and found the other Noodlebro games. My son likes it so much that I bought the other 2 games, just for the book/CD alone. Good way game though to teach kids to get used to the idea of board games and having to wait their turn to go.

We are a homeschooling family and our 2 & 4 year old's love this game! We have found many ways to use it to keep from having the kids losing interest which seems to be some people's issue with the game. We utilize each and every part of the game as a learning tool, we count the discs when we are playing, we learn to spell the items on the discs and we change up the manners each time we play. This is a simple game but it can be a very fun tool for learning manners and learning in general. The only complaint I have is that I wish each person had DIFFERENT things on their discs instead of everyone having the same pictures. Also this game is DEFINITELY for YOUNG kids, older kids would get bored very easily.

This game was a hit the first few times it was played with my 3 and 5 year olds. They rarely played more than once in a sitting and found it to be repetative and boring. It only covers please and thank you, not other manners. By the time my 3 year old hit 3.5 years old he never wanted to play.
They'd actually groan and complain when I pulled it off the shelf saying it was boring. It's a good idea, but needs more action and fun. The kids never laughed while playing. A game should be fun!

My granddaughter is 2 1/2 and we played this today. She loved it...didn't really get the concept to win but loved practicing... please and thank you. She especially liked dipping into the picnic basket and was excited to get the ANTS ! The pieces are colorful and easy to relate to and handle for a small child.

Great educational toy. I wouldn't say it teaches manners, however it does allow ample opprotunity to "practice" good manners. The audio cd and book were only slightly annoying to me. My almost 4 year old loves it. I have since bought other noodleboro games.
