3.0 out of 5 stars Really fussy
The Noodlehead worked fine, up to a point. The sprays from each Noodle went up to about eight feet away. Each Noodle doesn't really spray a lot of water, so be prepared to point three to six noodles at one spot if you want to really cover a specific area.

I had seen this product offered in gardening catalogs for a couple of years and finally decided this was the time to try out this unique sprinkler. And I am thrilled that I did.

We have all heard that good things come in small packages..and this is proof of this adage. You can water fairly large areas by spreading out the 'noodles' and then adjusting the water output to the desired flow. The same is true when watering smaller and odd shaped areas. The 'noodles' are quite flexible and easy to adjust.

The Noodlehead comes with a lawn spike to ensure it stays where put and does not tip over. This is probably my only complaint..the unit itself is lighter than I expected and is difficult to place without the spike.

If you have odd shaped areas to water, this is the answer you have been looking for. If you wish to water ordinary flat lawn areas, you are better off with another more traditional sprinkler.

3.0 out of 5 stars Really fussy, June 6, 2008
This review is from: Noodlehead N111C Flexible Lawn & Garden Sprinkler (Lawn & Patio)
The Noodlehead worked fine, up to a point. The sprays from each Noodle went up to about eight feet away. Each Noodle doesn't really spray a lot of water, so be prepared to point three to six noodles at one spot if you want to really cover a specific area.

I also found bending the noodles to be vey fussy and time-consuming. Often the Noodles bent back up over time and had to be repositioned. I finally gave up and got a traditional oscillating sprinker. That worked pretty well, and didn't have to be readjusted.

My bottom line: it's a fussy novelty that might be perfect for some folks, but I won't be buying more than the one I tried.

This sprinkler has solved a problem I've had for years - how to water the narrow strip next to the driveway. I can now water small oddly shaped areas without wasting water.

5.0 out of 5 stars The sprinkler for all places, March 18, 2007
This little sprinkler is amazing. Individually point the 12 sprayers to cover exactly the area you want. Aim more than 1 at an area needing more water. Saves water by not watering walkways etc. I love it.

Yes, its small.
The concept is terrific - direct the various "noodles" in the direction you need and walk away.
I purchased based on reviews (and amazon's awesome free shipping, yeah!)but did not think to check out the actual size..this is a very small sprinkler. It is the size of your fist and each noodle is the size of half a drinking straw) Very little water comes out of each straw.
Also, moving the noodles needs to be done while the water is running, so you can see where to aim the noodles. This is time consuming and the noodles don't stay bent...they slowly move back, usually directing water onto your head while you try to bend the rest of the noodles, which must be highly entertaining for your neighbors!
Why 4 stars? It cost around $14 and as long as you know its small and will only water a small area, that is perfect for folks with small townhouse gardens or an unusual shaped place...the oscillating kind of sprinklers tend to break easily so this might be a good option for some people. Also, watering slowly is a good thing..let the water percolate slowly instead of blasting into the ground and running off, right?
Just be aware the noodle concept is a bit of a gimmick but might work if you know what you are getting.
Happy gardening!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good for what it's designed for, July 14, 2010

Let's get the Cons out of the way first:
1. The noodles are a bit fussy to aim. But realize that they rotate also, and this becomes much less of a problem.
2. Each one does not spray much water. This can be a Pro or a Con, depending on the situation.
3. It is a bit light, and on uneven ground, even the weight of the hose can pull it off course. The ground stake fixes that.

The Pros:
1. Once you get the hang of positioning the noodles, it's easy to cover any weird shape. And they do loosen up with use. After a month or so of occasional use, mine stay pretty much where I point them.
2. With the pressure turned down, it's easy to give the plants a slow, deep soak.
3. The kids love it to play with too.

Bottom line: If you're a turn-it-on-and-forget-it type with oddly shaped areas to water, this is THE device for you. If you've just reseeded your entire front lawn, get a traditional sprinkler.

5.0 out of 5 stars Noodlehead sprinkler, June 9, 2008
This review is from: Noodlehead N111C Flexible Lawn & Garden Sprinkler (Lawn & Patio)
I found the Noodlehead sprinkler to be as advertised. I have been able to use it to water smaller areas on my lawn and direct the water flow to where I wanted it. After several adjustments I am watering just the lawn and not the driveway or road. I would recommend this product.

Really a great idea. Placed three across the front of the house and directed each noodle to cover every plant. Now we don't have to stand there with a hose to water the plants. You come back 20 minutes later turn the hose off and you're done.

This sprinkler is a great concept, but at the end of the day it is a specialized tool that isn't very useful for basic watering situations.

Problems:
1) The noodles are stiff plastic, so you have to over-bend them, and hope they move back to where you want them.
2) Each noodle shoots three fine streams of water. That's a great idea for a squirt gun, but annoying in a sprinkler. It would drench one area, and hardly dampen an area 12" away.
3) It's a pain to adjust without getting wet. I spent quite a while turning the sprinkler on, watching the pattern, turning it off, then adjusting the noodles. I went through this process about 10 times before I got it just right. Based on issue 2, you have to be exact, or you'll miss the area you need to water.

HOWEVER, in my opinion, this sprinkler is ideal for someone who will mount it to a fence, or watering a specific area like a corner garden. You can mash all the noodles to one side, and voila - you are only watering that part of the yard.

For someone like myself, who was hoping to save on water by only hitting the few patches in my yard that have fresh seed, the Noodlehead just didn't work.
