Noodler's Eternal Luxury Blue Fountain Pen Ink

I write with Noodler's Eternal Luxury Blue ink all the time for secure recordkeeping (student attendance in the classes I teach; need I say more?) in a color that says, "original and handwritten." This stuff is just as tough as Noodler's (standard) Black.

Noodler's Eternal Luxury Blue is not as good for two-sided writing on bad paper as Noodler's (standard) Black is, but for the color blue I count that as a security feature. A photocopying forger would have to spend lots of time and money to produce a convincing color photocopy of both sides of a sheet of paper with exactly the same shadow-through and print-through of handwritten marks or writing in this ink, while a handwriting forger would have to try many times to produce marks or writing with exactly the same shadow-through and print-through.

One behavior you might notice, if your pen's nib is an exposed metal surface (not covered with colored enamel), is that Eternal Luxury Blue spreads itself over exposed metal surfaces. This "nib creep" is harmless behavior because the ink doesn't run down onto the grip area. Wiping the ink off the nib is only temporary; more ink will soon spread to replace what you wiped off. Again, this is harmless behavior and a very small price to pay for the security of your marks, signatures and important handwritten texts.

This is my 3rd ink from Noodler's & overall I am not disappointed. This ink is a beautiful, rich shade of blue, flows nicely from the nib & like all Noodler's "Bullet Proof" inks, stands up well against attempts to remove it.

There is only one trait that does not excite me about this particular ink, it tends to feather a bit more than I care for & if you are not quick, your writing stands a good chance of bleeding through the page. This feathering is not an issue with "Bullet Proof Black" & is a minor one with "Red Fox".

All in all I think that it is a fine ink, & even if the feathering issue were not resolved, I would & probably shall buy this ink again in the future.

This is as close as I've been able to come to the old Parker Penman Sapphire Blue, a beautiful, discontinued ink, in a waterproof, "bulletproof" permanent ink. I use it in my Pelikan pens and it looks terrific. It doesn't eeem to evaporate from the pens so it lasts a long time. Though pricey, if you're an executive or other moderate writer, it's well worth the price. If you write a great deal (such as schoolteachers, authors doing it by hand) it's a more costly approach. Try a bottle to see how it goes.

This was not what I expected. When my bottle arrived and I first tested it, my immediate response was negative. It's not a dark, vivid blue. It's more of a faded-looking color like the classic Sheaffer Skrip of years gone by. Also, it tends to feather and bleed on all but the very best paper.

However. . . I find using it in a relatively "dry" pen can get the feathering under control. It then creates a soft and relaxed appearance that some might find pleasing. More importantly, it dries fast! Because it absorbs quickly into the paper, I find it often becomes smudge-proof in as little as three seconds. Noodlers Black takes considerably longer to dry.

It's not bad ink, it's just different.

I purchased two bottles, one of black Polar Buletproof Eel ink and this Luxury blue ink.

This Luxury Blue was more expensive than the Polar Black. But the Polar black comes in a 3oz bottle and this one is only ONE oz. It does not say so here in the specs. So beware because the name for it is well chosen: LUXURY. One would assume by the cost that both would be 3oz. No so. All other Noodler's inks I looked at posted the correct bottle size.

I purchased this Luxury Blue because I do a lot of letter writing and wanted a blue to stand up to rain and moisture on the letter's envelope. It is a good blue, but "good" is all I can say. Not outstanding nor striking in its color. And in my Parker Duofold or Pelikan M800, ink creep is a real issue--this is when the ink "wicks" out of the tip of the nib and migrates all over the nib. I'm giving it four stars, not five, because of this creep. But this is truly personal; others have the same issue, but don't find it a problem. Me, I enjoy seeing my 14 or 18 ct. gold nibs looking pristine, not covered in a colored ink.

Smooth, non-clogging, lovely 'luxury' feel. I have rediscovered the joy of penmanship with this ink. I use it in a slim Sheaffer pen because Sheaffer have stopped making the refill cartridges. Now I wouldnt switch back to ink cartridges. This is a lighter blue color than I anticipated but I have grown to like it. Highly recommended.

I'm an ink newbie, but this ink feathers a bit to much for me on Moleskine paper. The ink dries as a lighter blue than I would have imagined, though it still looks very good. The ink also seems to gather a bit more than I would expect on the tip of my Namiki VP. Even with these problems, this is still an extremely durable ink that can't be washed away, so for signing checks or writing in a permanent diary, you can't go wrong.

Great ink in secure, bulletproof formulation. Smooth, but does seem to feather more than the black.

This ink leaves something to be desired as far as intensity of color. However, when blended with Private Reserve Tanzanite and American Blue it makes a permanent and satisfying rich blue ink. I wouldn't be without a bottle.
