I love that this is a healthy mattress. I feel good that my son is not breathing in chemicals. I think he's very comfortable on it as well. The only thing I don't love is the patented cover is not easy to put on or off. Given that he is either spitting up, or pee'ing out of his diaper ALL the time, we had to buy several covers (at $100+ each). They aren't easy to take off in the middle of the night, and then washing and hanging to dry can take awhile. I now end up putting a traditional wet pad over the mattress and under the sheet when I know he's going to have a rough night. It's just so much easier and more practical. But I know it also takes awhile from the benefits of this mattress. Lastly, my zipper broke the first time I used it. Nook nicely provided a replacement, but I do worry that the new one will also rip at some point. Given the price, I would think it would last longer.

When I bought this mattress, I was new into the whole "non-toxic" scene and I believed the description Nook Sleep gave of the Pebble Lite: Non-toxic, no off-gassing, no chemical flame retardants. But I've learned better since then and sincerely regret my decision to buy this mattress. First of all, Centipur-US foam is simply polyurethane foam that's supposed to be "better" than standard foam. But is it really? Maybe a little, but in the end it's still a highly flammable byproduct of crude oil! I noticed that the Nook Pebble Lite is now being marketed as having a "soy foam" core which is possibly even worse. Is it ALL soy foam? Is it made from GMO soy? Nook does not disclose important information like this unless you directly ask them, and there's still even some information they won't disclose (like where they get the latex in their Pebble Pure mattress from).

The bottom line is that if you're buying this mattress to be non-toxic, DON'T BOTHER. It's not. Stay far, far away from anything "Centipur" or "Soy Foam." They're pretty much marketing schemes that I fell prey to.

Additionally, I had the foam from my 2013 Pebble Lite mattress tested for flame retardants and it came back as containing TBPP. When I contacted Nook about this, their response was that "All man-made foams have that present in them." Okay, but how can a product being marketed as non-toxic test positive for a chemical flame retardant found in conventional products??? It doesn't exactly make Nook look like they are being totally honest with consumers.

I won't deny that this is a sturdy, good looking, and comfortable mattress. But that's not why I bought it. In the end, it was an expensive mattress that I honestly don't think is that much healthier than a conventional mattress. I'm disappointed for sure and I hope I can help others passionate about non-toxic products avoid making the same bad decision that I made!

I bought this mattress because 1) it's made of breathable material, 2) it doesn't have scary chemicals, and 3) you can wash the cover. Those reasons were all I needed to know to buy it. Bonus: it is SO comfortable. My little guy sleeps right on sans sheet and he can - because I can wash the cover should the need arise. Love it!!

I'm not thrilled about this mattress, for a variety of reasons. First of all, the mattress cover smells very strongly of something...almost a bleech-y smell, but I can't identify it. It has kept the smell through many washes, & I have a replacement cover that smells the exact same way. I'm talking about the cover of the mattress...not the sheets. The cover is supposed to be convenient, because they claim that you won't need to buy waterproof mats, since it's water resistant. This is not as convenient as one might think. If the child wets the bed, the cover absorbs the moisture, so it protects the core mattress underneath. But then you have to replace the entire cover...which means you'll either have to buy a replacement or 2, like I did...at $100+ each...or you'll have to keep your baby awake while you wash & dry it, & put it back on the mattress. Big pain, either way...since changing it alone is a LOT of work. It's not easy to slip the cover on and off...it's actually a struggle, & a huge pain if you're doing it in the middle of the night. The 1st cover that I had for it...the one that came with the mattress...wore out around the edges in about 6 months. At that point, my baby had only been sleeping on it for maybe 2.5 months, & whenever I washed it, I would do so on the delicate cycle. It developed holes in each corner, where stuffing was coming out of it...very dangerous. I contacted the company & told them that I felt it was unconscionable to have to buy a $100 cover every year, because it had worn out so quickly. They told me the result was not typical & they did send me a replacement, when I provided them with pictures & my receipt. But I wonder if it had been 12 months since I had purchased it, if they would have sent a replacement then.Read more ›

We just started using this for my son a few weeks ago. He transitioned to his crib from the rock and play fairly easily. I put the mattress on the floor and laid on it and found it to be comfortable. I sleep on a Temper Pedic so I'm pretty picky. I've only had to take the cover off once to wash it because my little guy had the flu but I found it easy to put back on. I just washed it on the gentle cycle and dried it on low heat. It went back on without a problem. My only complaint is when it first came there was a smell to it. However, after a week the smell was gone. My son is really a hot kid and he's never sweaty when I get him up from naps or get him up in the morning so I'd have to say that the breathability of the mattress really works. I will definitely buy on for the next baby.
