Kisses, picnics, and fast cars, October 21, 2001
This review is from: Nora Roberts Chesapeake Bay Trilogy (Paperback)
Set in Baltimore's beautiful Inner Harbor area, the stories captivated me with details of shipbuilding and sailing. Three men, rescued and adopted as boys, must come together again to solve the mystery surrounding their adoptive father's death. Along the way, the men are challenged by three women. Our heroines include: a longsuffering single mother, a fiery social worker, and a seemingly cold writer. Of course, all the characters have issues from the past to resolve. Additionally, they also have the best interests of a young boy to keep in mind -- a new adoptee or new brother? From breaking and entering to sailing and swimming, the stories meld one into another. Kisses, picnics, and fast cars sweep you along from book to book, until the mystery is finally revealed and the love complications are resolved. Ultimately, the romance novel reveals the unspoken thoughts of men and women, with characters so real that you feel you've met them somewhere. If men read romance novels more, they would know what women want. And, ladies, this is a trilogy you can get your man to read!

Heartwarming, December 2, 2003

This review is from: Nora Roberts Chesapeake Bay Trilogy (Paperback)
I have read many other Nora Roberts books. I have loved all of them but this trilogy was the best! It took me into the lives of the Quinn brothers. No matter how different they were; they always stayed together because of their name, "Quinn". They all rush to the hospital to see their father, Ray Quinn, who was in a horrible car accident. As he lays dying in bed; he calls the 3 men to his bedside and makes them promise to take care of the young boy. They fulfilled their promise even though the men had lead different lifestyles. The description of the characters and the setting are absolutely wonderful! I can see the shores and imagine the men. I wish that real men could be like this! Their love for the women in their lives made me cry. It was that passionate! I love how each book represents each one of them. It delves into their different personalities and the backgrounds that they come from and explains how they were rescued by the kindness of the Quinns. I normally read books and never pick them up again even other Nora Roberts books but this series is different. I want to enjoy their lives some more. I just wish that there were more of these stories. I reached the end and was sorry that it was over.

WONDERFUL, August 21, 2002

This review is from: Nora Roberts Chesapeake Bay Trilogy (Paperback)
This was such a touching story of three brothers who have come back together to their home where they were adopted after the death of the man who adopted them. They all come from troubled backgrounds before they were adopted by this loving couple. Their father's dying wish was for the 3 brothers to come together & take care of a 10 year old boy that their father had taken into his home. Watching the lives of these four brothers transform together, as well as the women who enter in their lives, is very touching. The love that the men share for one another is fun to see. I laughed throughout all three books at the way they would play, tease and enjoy one another. Of the three novels my personal favorite is the second novel...Rising Tides. I think because the couple in this book both needed so much from one another and it was so sweet to see them finally be able to have those needs met. Although, all three are exciting. You need to read them all and in order, to get the full story. I definitly recommend them to anyone.
