5.0 out of 5 stars Kisses, picnics, and fast cars, October 21, 2001
By

This review is from: Nora Roberts Chesapeake Bay Trilogy (Paperback)
Set in Baltimore's beautiful Inner Harbor area, the stories captivated me with details of shipbuilding and sailing. Three men, rescued and adopted as boys, must come together again to solve the mystery surrounding their adoptive father's death. Along the way, the men are challenged by three women. Our heroines include: a longsuffering single mother, a fiery social worker, and a seemingly cold writer. Of course, all the characters have issues from the past to resolve. Additionally, they also have the best interests of a young boy to keep in mind -- a new adoptee or new brother?

From breaking and entering to sailing and swimming, the stories meld one into another. Kisses, picnics, and fast cars sweep you along from book to book, until the mystery is finally revealed and the love complications are resolved.

Ultimately, the romance novel reveals the unspoken thoughts of men and women, with characters so real that you feel you've met them somewhere. If men read romance novels more, they would know what women want. And, ladies, this is a trilogy you can get your man to read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Heartwarming, December 2, 2003

This review is from: Nora Roberts Chesapeake Bay Trilogy (Paperback)
I have read many other Nora Roberts books. I have loved all of them but this trilogy was the best! It took me into the lives of the Quinn brothers. No matter how different they were; they always stayed together because of their name, "Quinn".

They all rush to the hospital to see their father, Ray Quinn, who was in a horrible car accident. As he lays dying in bed; he calls the 3 men to his bedside and makes them promise to take care of the young boy. They fulfilled their promise even though the men had lead different lifestyles. The description of the characters and the setting are absolutely wonderful! I can see the shores and imagine the men. I wish that real men could be like this! Their love for the women in their lives made me cry. It was that passionate! I love how each book represents each one of them. It delves into their different personalities and the backgrounds that they come from and explains how they were rescued by the kindness of the Quinns.

I normally read books and never pick them up again even other Nora Roberts books but this series is different. I want to enjoy their lives some more. I just wish that there were more of these stories. I reached the end and was sorry that it was over.

5.0 out of 5 stars WONDERFUL, August 21, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Nora Roberts Chesapeake Bay Trilogy (Paperback)
This was such a touching story of three brothers who have come back together to their home where they were adopted after the death of the man who adopted them. They all come from troubled backgrounds before they were adopted by this loving couple. Their father's dying wish was for the 3 brothers to come together & take care of a 10 year old boy that their father had taken into his home.

Watching the lives of these four brothers transform together, as well as the women who enter in their lives, is very touching. The love that the men share for one another is fun to see. I laughed throughout all three books at the way they would play, tease and enjoy one another.

Of the three novels my personal favorite is the second novel...Rising Tides. I think because the couple in this book both needed so much from one another and it was so sweet to see them finally be able to have those needs met. Although, all three are exciting. You need to read them all and in order, to get the full story. I definitly recommend them to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it!, April 23, 2003

I have read so many of Nora Robert's books and generally enjoy her stuff but I absolutely loved "Sea Swept", "Rising Tides" and "Inner Harbor". Each book tells the love story of one of the Quinn Brother's while explaining an ongoing mystery of who the young boy who comes to live with them is. These books rate as three of my favorites and I would recommend them to anyone. I usually pull these books off the bookshelf every summer and have enjoyed them more then once. Very enjoyable read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Super!, November 1, 2002
This review is from: Nora Roberts Chesapeake Bay Trilogy (Paperback)
I loved this series... A friend gave me the first book, Sea Swept, and insisted I read it -- I resisted for a long time -- kept it on my bookshelf for a few months. Then one day I picked it up and couldn't stop! It was the first "romance" I've ever read as I'd always thought they were cheesey and lacked depth. But Sea Swept made me discover the inner romantic in me... and now I can't stop! If you're like me and aren't a fan of the unrealistic and unoriginal romances, this is a great place to start. The stories are about more than one kind of love and the characters have distinct personalities, pluses and minuses, and are all loveable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sea Swept/RisingTides/Inner Harbor, June 29, 2003

This review is from: Nora Roberts Chesapeake Bay Trilogy (Paperback)
I hit the jackpot when I read these books! These are my first Nora Roberts books and they have made me a book junkie. I cannot get enough of her books!
They can be compared to a four course meal.
Sea Swept is only the "appitizer" to the meal, it will make you want more. Rising Tides, you get a taste of what is to come later, and with Inner Harbor, this is the main course. You will enjoy these book as you would a wonderful meal. I can hardly wait to sit down with "dessert" reading Chesapeake Blue with a good after dinner drink!

This is one of my favorite series by Nora....it's more of a drama about real life and family! It's a must read collection....I gurantee you will love it!

This is the story about three brothers....brothers by love not blood who are all grown up when a horrible accident takes the life of their father...whom on his death bed asked his sons to care for this little boy Seth...They all struggle to pull through and see to their father wish but for all the brothers...and each book is their story....things can get pretty tough especially dealing with a brat kid....

It's three very touching stories all in one!

Very captivating. Couldn't put them down. You'll have to finish the series off with her "Chesapeake Blue". Very heartwarming story. You become a part of the "Quinn" boys' lives.
