Good One .. U cannot expect to get more when U get it for Cheap ... Throw any disc and it plays so far I have tried with the following formats DVD, CD, CDR, MP3,Kodak picture CD, VCD2-0, D VCD.
The Surround sound effects on Dolby Digitial DTS - DVD's was pretty hood.. however the catch is it plays all other disc's audio on just 3 speakers.
The SetUp and configuration was easy and they have a good Menu System. The instruction Manual is short - few pages only and I had to speak to there tech suppport who where very user freindly.
OverALL a GOOD BUY !!!

It has it all! It palys DVD, MP3, VCD, Music CD, CD-R, and even MPEG files. It also includes the receiver and speaker system.

What is not so good is that only two front speakers and subwoofer have sounds when playing anything other than DVDs that support Dolby Digital 5.1-channel surround sound. And the subwoofer is too weak.

Anyhow, what can you expect fot [inexpensive] system? I say it is a great buy!

I just got this yesterday, and I'm quite happy with it. It has some quirks (can't eject when you're not in DVD mode, it clicks when you're changing screens, etc.) but it sounds very good for a [value]system.
The volume goes up to a possible 80, and I had to keep it around 60-65 when I watched a regular movie. I had it on 75 when I watched the action parts of Star Wars. So it probably shouldn't be used in a huge room. But mine is in my rec room / pool table room that is about 17 X 36, and it filled it with sound.

The bottom line.....if you're a sound system expert, go buy a[n expensive] + system. If you're looking for a decent, cheap system to screw around and watch movies, this is great.

I bought the DP-1600 system with a lot of skepticism to replace my 2 1/2 year old JVC DVD player that doesn't play mp3s. However I am pleasantly surprised by DP-600's value. I listened to my mp3 song collection for 6 hours last night and it was awesome (I have had it for less than 1 day now). It delivers good sound and the DVD picture is good as well. However, you have to use the S-Video output to get higher picture quality. The regular 3 pin input does not make you enjoy the movies.

Pros: Price, plays almost all formats(DVD, CD, VCD, CD-R, MP3, JPEG), provision for NTSC/ PAL output, slim design, easy to use remote.

Cons: Heavy (weighs a lot probably because of the built-in amplifier), "click" sound from the speakers when you move to the next song.

I, like other reviewers, was skeptical about what I would get for such a low price. But, after five months of use, I can give an enthusiastic "thumbs up." The speakers are clean and the sound is more than sufficient for our rather large bedroom. The DVD is fairly easy to use and has all the whistles and bells that I need.

I used the customer service once when I had a problem with programing and got through quickly and reached a service rep. that actually knew the product! He fixed my dilemma in less than 90 seconds. Incredible in today's market (Hello Compaq, take notes from these guys).

In today's high tech market there are great buys to be found at the bottom-end of consumer electronic products, and the Norcent DP1600 DVD Home Theater is one of them. Highly recommended.

For the price, it is definitely worth buying. The Speakers sound great. The only problem is not all speakers work for various medium. For instance, all speakers work when youplay DVD, but not for CD nor VCD. The sound quality is still high. I would recommed not to put anything on top of the DVD Player, because it heats up pretty quickly. Overall, a good purchase.

For the unbelievable low price and the many features this unit promised, we couldn't resist and we just had to buy this system. And true, setup was quick and easy, and overall the sound was also very good for these relatively small satellite speakers. Just the speaker pair for the special effects was a little weak, but it was O.K. considering the low price. The best results came with playing music CDs over the system--I thought I was in a dance club and it was pretty powerful. After we watched about 10 DVDs over a couple of weeks or so, the DVD player started to have its problems as the picture became smudged. Then on the next viewing the screen had lines running in every direction and the picture was gone. After we checked all connections, we had to call the Norcent "Help"-Line which was answered immediately and the gentleman was friendly and helpful. After trying all possible fixes which were suggested by the Norcent Help-guy, nothing worked and the picture was not restored, and sadly we had to return the unit. It's a good deal and the product seems to be of acceptable sturdy quality, and as long as it works it can be enjoyed. But once a problem with the picture arises you may have to return the system unless you want to use it as a great sound system for your CDs--that might be worth it.

I never heard of the brand Norcent, but I trusted Amazon.com so I took a chance. I purchase it for myself 2 weeks ago, I was leery [of the cost], but I read the other reviews and they were honest for the price it was a nice home theater system for a small room, it play extremely well. All 5 speakers in DVD and 2-3 speaker for CD or MP3 , I was very impressed with it for the value. I thought it was so awesome I was going to buy another one for my mother for her bedroom and the price shot up []I had to think about it but for the bang for the buck I have to say it is worth it.

I'd have to give this product 4/5. You cannot beat the price, and it plays everything you throw at it. The 5 speakers perform just as well as my expensive JVC home theatre system, but as others have noted, the 30W sub is underpowered. Still, a great buy for the money - one cannot complain at this price.
