Product Description

In the 37th Century, you are the Supreme Commander of three races, with a single goal in mind—to end the 1000 year Infinite War and become the reigning power supreme. For a thousand years, three opposing forces have waged war for what they believe is true. There can be no room for compromise: their way is the only way. Dubbed The Infinite War, this devastating conflict has taken its toll on a once-peaceful galaxy and has only served to deepen the hatred between the factions. After centuries of struggle, the battle for supremacy has at last reached a turning point. Under your strategic command and leadership, will your faction will reign supreme? Will you be victorious and elevate your race to domination? Or will you lead them into the hell of defeat and ultimate extinction?

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of RTS February 18, 2012

I have played a lot of RTS and Supreme Commander is in the top of them all, better than SupCom 2 because it isn't watered down in graphics and game play like it's sequel. If you enjoy RTS with truly grand scale in maps, units, and control, this is the one. It isn't made for weak computers but most better systems today should be able to handle it pretty well. One of the best features of SupCom is how you can zoom out and see the entire map quickly and zoom back in anywhere you choose, making a "mini-map" obsolete. You can also queue up orders for units to build. Want to have an Engineer build a land defense gun, then build walls around it, then move somewhere else and build a shipyard? You can. You can also decide what a factory will produce before it's finished. You can have transports automatically ferry newly-constructed units to the location of your choosing. If you have the computer power, you can have hundreds of units from small to very large pounding it out. You have land, sea, and air units, and some that are even amphibious. Don't get into this, especially on large maps if you're not willing to put time into the game. The matches can take hours. Those with attention disorders should play something like Warhammer, where you have 15 minute matches. Some prefer the expansion "Forged Alliance" but this is mainly because they force shorter matches as well, but the interface is indeed a bit nicer. All in all, both games are very good, just be prepared to spend some quality time with matches. And for those buying the download version of the game and can't play because it asks for the CD, you need to update the game. You'd want to anyway because it's much better but more importantly, they removed the CD check at patch 3189.

For whatever reason you feel the need to pay for a game on amazon and not steam, do not waste your time downloading all 6 gigs. Go to the steam website, get steam, activate your game (worked as of 7/9/12) and download from there. You will get: Both Supreme Commander and SC Forged Alliance, as well as patches that will let you get the game to even run. Amazon's link for the THQ website is no longer active and you will be stuck trying to find your own patch. (Which I have not had any luck in doing.)

In short, go with steam for your download!!!!!!!!!!!

Great game btw, though after 6-7 games in a short time it can get kinda old.

(Want a REALLY great RTS? Play Total Annihilation, it's what Supreme Command was based off of. WAY more fun though not quite as pretty)

Really fun RTS, very epic scale some of maps get so big that it will take a normal speed land unit 20 minutes or more to go from one side to the other! Makes for alot of epic battles. You can use the product key to activate this game on steam, this will also give you the expansion Forged Alliance. This just worked for me as of 4/11/12.

If you don't use steam you will need to download the patch for this game separately. Not hard to do but steam should auto-update it so that is easier.

You are only buying the product key from Amazon. You might as well just download from Steam from the beginning. If you do download and you can't see your mouse pointer, just google for the solution. It is really a simple fix and a very common error in this and many other games.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great game and great user interface/experience March 11, 2013
Platform for Display:PC Download|Verified Purchase
I first came across this game from a friend. He let me borrow it and i fell in love with it. If you like games like Command and Conquer, Red Alert, etc, you will absolutely love this one. I am sure there are newer and more up to date versions of this game but it is hard to beat a classic such as this one. It is is especially cool that when you have it hooked up to a computer with more than one monitor, you can have the game in one monitor and the controls/menu window in a separate monitor!

5.0 out of 5 stars Well-Balanced and Innovative RTS January 3, 2013
Platform for Display:PC Download|Verified Purchase
SupCom has a very unique blend of elements that make it a very enjoyable experience for new players as well as old hands. It can take a little bit of getting used to, but the many different elements allow for some intricate strategies. Highly skilled players can benefit from unit micromanagement (apropos the Aeon T1 tank). SupCom has a much better single-player campaign than its sequel, Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance, but the gameplay for SupCom FA is far superior, with added units, a streamlined interface, and plenty of fan-made tools.
Overall, this game is a steal at Amazon's asking price and well-worth the investment. Lower end machines (and perhaps some mid-end) may struggle with the excellent graphics--try adjusting the visual settings if you run into issues.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Game January 1, 2013
Platform for Display:PC Download|Verified Purchase
I love this game! This is a great game for the Total Annihilation fan and a fan of the Age of Empires or Empire Earth series. Additional maps are easily downloaded from many community sites. Some of these are fantastic maps.

I run this on Windows 7 and have had no problem. As some have reported on the community sites, there are some challenges with crashing on huge games. This was fixed as prescribed and I have had no issues since.
