No elements in the fingers of the glove, only heating element is in the palm of your hand.

The description of the gloves would have you believe that the battery powered gloves (using D cell Batteries) would provide heat to the hands for 6 to 8 hours.

I was given a new pair of these gloves several years ago however I never used them till recently.

I bought these gloves for my wife who has problems keeping her hands warm. The description of the gloves would have you believe that the battery powered gloves (using D cell Batteries) would provide heat to the hands for 6 to 8 hours. In actuality, the battery will only provide heat for 35 to 40 minutes before it ends. To make matters worse, the only heat provided is to the palm of the hand, no heat is provided to the fingers!

I did not use a cheap brand of battery for these gloves. The first battery that I tried (it takes one D cell per glove) was Duracel with an experation date of 2013 (in other words, brand new battery with lots of shelf life left). That battery provided heat for 40 minutes before dying.

The second set of batteries that I tried (with the same experation date) were made by Eveready. That battery lasted 35 minutes. You should also note that the Duracel fits poorly in the connector case and the Eveready battery fits even worse!

These gloves are on their way to Goodwill. Maybe they can be used by some one as work gloves or something.

If you are considering these gloves, think again! The chemical packs work much better although they (the chemical packs) do have a shelf life. It just seemed such a waste to us to use a chemical pack for a one hour walk and then have the pack continue to provide heat for another 4 to 6 hours. Still, that is better than using up two D cell batteries for less heat that only lasts about 40 minutes.

When I purchased a pair of these gloves a couple of years ago, I had high hopes. My hands become cold easily, and I was looking forward to wearing gloves that would actively help in warming them.

I will admit that these gloves are respectable as normal, unheated gloves. They are fairly well insulated and provide a moderate degree of dexterity.

However, the heating element is ineffective. Inserting batteries into the gloves provided little (if any) increase in warmth. My fingers remained cold.

In addition, I have recently discovered that the thin wire connecting the heating element to the battery in one of the gloves has become disconnected. These gloves have not been subjected to any harsh abuse, so it is disappointing to find that the wire had been disconnected so easily.

If you are looking for a pair of heated gloves that will actually make a difference and keep your hands (including your fingers)warm, look elsewhere.

Gloves are toasty...perform as expected, and are a sweet luxury after a long, cold day on the slopes; HOWEVER, the D-SIZED batteries (1 per glove) are considerably more bulky than what I expected. Most reasonable people would anticipate having to use 3 or 4 AA batteries...but no, just one, bit fat chicken-roastin' D-sized battery. Good product, but consider whether wearing the big ol' D's around your wrist all day will get on your nerves, or whether you'll barely notice, being bundled-up and bulkified anyway. May also interfere with cinching up your jacket sleeves when it's really nippy out.

I bought both the Nordic Gear batter-heated gloves and battery-heated mittens. Neither product provides adequate heat. The batteries work; but you get only a tiny bit of warmth. I see from the other reviews that my complaint is common. I wish I had read the reviews before buying!

Well...I bought these gloves thinking they'd help me when I went skiing...they didn't do a darned thing...they kept the palms of the hands lukewarm but my fingers still froze. I guess it goes to show you can't expect quality out of something that costs so little.

only heats the palm of your hand, fingers stay cold. No elements in the fingers of the glove, only heating element is in the palm of your hand. Not worth the money,

What I like:
- the gloves fit very well and are comfortable. The wrist portion is extra long, which helps keep the gloves in place. Seem to be well made. They have the "Thinsulate" insulation in addition to the battery heat.

Not so much:
- each glove takes a D cell battery, located on the wrist, which makes the gloves very bulky. You'll probably have to push your coat sleeves up as they likely won't fit over the gloves. This would have had a much slimmer profile if it was designed for AA or even C batteries.
- the only portion that heats up is in the upper portion of your palm, not the fingers at all. The theory is that heat from here will circulate into your fingers. It does seem to do that somewhat. My fingers can still get cold, but not uncomfortably so. Haven't had much opportunity yet to test them with very cold or prolonged exposure.

Don't like:
- the fingers and palm are coated with some substance that no doubt is intended to make the gloves more durable, but whatever it is doesn't grip very well. I tried using these to shovel snow and finally gave up and switched to leather gloves as it was too hard to get a good grip on the shovel; it seemed to slip out of my hand unless I gripped very hard. Can't do much of that with arthritis. These gloves would be MUCH better if they had some leather to provide a decent grip.
- velcro straps are useless. They are too small to manage while wearing the gloves. The strap fits through a small slot and the end of the strap seems to be slightly bigger than the slot. So you can do the straps if you're NOT wearing the gloves, but once you get them on you need your mommy to fasten the straps for you.
