I like this cake lifter better than the Wilton one I also own. The Nordic will lift a larger cake and is very sturdy, yet thin enough to slip under a fragile cake without ruining it. The description is wrong -- the handle doesn't fold -- but I don't have a problem storing it as-is. I was worried it would be hard on my wrist to keep it steady, especially when positioning multiple cake layers, but I've had no problem handling it. Easy to clean too.

I was catering a dinner party for 30 people and was serving a savory cheesecake for an appetizer as well as 2 dessert cheesecakes throughout the meal. How impressive to whip this out from my bag of tricks to lift the cakes up and off the bottom of the springform pans. But to add to that, this cake lifter is sturdy and well made. I'm glad to have it as one of my many kitchen tools.

This lifter works well for moving cakes or pizzas. The main reason I chose this one over the others was that this one was made in the USA!!

Purchased this Cake lifter in conjunction with buying the Breville Smart Oven. The stove comes with a round 13 inch pizza plate but I wanted the 13 inch pizza stone that is bought as an extra.

The Nordic Ware lifter is excellent for placing both artisan bread and small pizza's on the heated 13 inch pizza stone.

It is sturdy and easy to use. Simply place parchment paper on the lifter and place your raw bread dough or pizza onto the lifter and slide it onto your 13 inch pizza stone. Later, three quarters of the way through baking, using the lifter to raise the bread or pizza, and remove the parchment paper. The remaining time will brown the bottom of your bread or pizza.

One of the only disadvantages I could think of is the size of it and where to store it. I simply place it on top of the Breville Smart Stove baking accessories.

My daughter recently purchased the Wilton Cake Lifter. It's a handy product. I used it a number of times when moving 8-inch cakes and separating layers when I split cakes to fill the layers. It's good, but it's a bit small. I wanted something that was more versatile and when I saw this one I decided to give it a go. First, it's made in the USA. The Wilton Cake Lifter is made it China. I like the fact that this one is round and has a long handle instead of the smaller rectangular shape. This makes it ideal for removing pizzas from the oven racks which makes this one more versatile. Also, the difference in weight and metal thickness is a factor for me. The Nordic Ware lifter is heavy, but not uncomforatbly so. It's not as portable as the Wilton lifter, but unless you are taking the cake decorating classes, that shouldn't be an issue. I could definitely see the Wilton Cake lifter picking up dents if you dropped it or stacked heavy items on top of it. If you drop the Nordic Ware lifter, I could see it denting your floor. The Wilton lifter is excellent for eight inch cakes. Although I haven't tried the Nordic Ware lifter on anything larger than ten inches, I'm sure it would accomodate a twleve inch cake nicely. At $9.95 the Nordic Ware Cake Lifter is comparably priced to the smaller, lighter, Wilton Cake Lifter($9.99). However, I will likely never need to purchase another one but I can see Wilton owners having to replace theirs sooner or later.

As an aside, I did take this bad boy to a cake decorating class. The instructor and other students snickered a bit at my large, round cake lifter. I didn't care because I knew that I not only had the more versatile and longer lasting product, I also had one heck of a self-defense weapon if needed.

This cake lifter is wonderful! I'm able to cut my cakes into very thin layers without worrying about cracking them. I just use my cake leveler to cut through the cake, slide this underneath to move the upper layer out of the way, ice the lower layer, then use this to slide the layer back on top. It's very sturdy and thin enough to easily slide between the cut layers. It's also sturdy enough to hold a 9" fondant covered cake tier (which can be pretty heavy).

I use this cake lifter to move my pizza on and off of my pizza stone. I have a wooden pizza peel but the cake lifter is easier to maneuver. I shape my dough on parchment paper and holding the paper taught, use the cake lifter under to transfer the pizza onto the pizza stone. So much easier than trying to jiggle it of of the peel and having it fold all over itself. I only leave the parchment under the pizza for the first 2 or 3 minutes of cooking because it starts to burn. Just lift up the edge of the pizza with the cake lifter and pull the paper out- easy. And once the pizza is cooked, its easily transported with the cake lifter to a cutting board.
I have not had this product long- I'm certain I'll find other uses for it... but if you make pizza this is a great tool to have.

An awesome "mancake" turner. We've been searching for a long time to find one large enough to flip giant pancakes (mancakes) and finally found this one. We love it. Nordic Ware Cake Lifter
