I really like this cookbook. Many of the recipes are based on a cake mix, which you add additional items to. There are almost-no pictures in the book, but I am glad to have a book specifically of bundt cake recipes.

I purchased this book because I have a lot of bundt pans. I was disappointed to see almost half the recipes involved a box cake. I buy cook books to make things home made not via boxed cake mixes. It basicially told you to buy a box of cake mix and add this and that to it. Who can't do that themselves? Not a good cookbook at all. If you want lessons on how to make boxed cakes than you'll like this box. I make all my cakes homemade so this book was useless to me.

Great recipes, but a lot of them refer to all kind of prepared mixes: yellow cake mix, chocolate cake mix, etc. There are also recipes "from scratch", which are not difficult to make.

Just received this today. I had purchased as a gift for my stepmother who loves to cook and bake but sometimes loves to cheat....8-) Baking is difficult because you have to be accurate with your measurements. This is a great book for the beginner and busy person who just can't always make something completely by scratch......A total of 87 cake and dessets recipe. 28 of these recipes use package cake mix .....The book also has a bread section. Only two of the recipes call for frozen bread dough. There is an area for savory dishes. Some of the recipes like the shepard pie calls for instant potatoes but you can easily alter the recipe to make fresh. The cook book has 3 chapters

Chapter 1

like shepard pie, Orzo Salmon ring, mexican chicken bake, sausage potato bake,calzone etc. some of the recipes call for frozen bread dough in both chapter 2 and 3...........at the end of each chapter there is a section for notes. In back...high altitude conversion chart, measuremnts, equivalents and a conversion chart.

Overall it is great book for the busy and beginner. If you like to cook all the time by scratch there are some recipes for you. although, it may not be appealing to this person.

I was thoroughly disappointed with the recipes in this book. Maybe I'm old fashioned but, when I go to a COOK BOOK and look for RECIPES...I intend and expect something made from scratch.

There are some recipes for making cakes from scratch in this book- but by and large the MAJORITY of recipes are "spiced up" versions of store bought cake mixes.

I understand there is a very successful series of books with these kind of recipes- and I do not mean to disparage the practice of baking from a boxed mix. I have done my share of that and will continue to do so.

But the description I read did not say this book was a CAKE MIX cookbook.

BUYER BEWARE.

If you like baking bundt cakes you will love this book. Lots of nice easy cake recipes.
