4.0 out of 5 stars Nordic Ware Micro Go Round
I disagree with the bad reviews on this product. The item does have a replacement warranty, so what's the problem ?? I bought the first one before microwaves even came with a turntable built in (20+ yrs. ago). I'm on my second one (replaced under warranty after about 10 years). The current one is about 10 yrs. old and it gets lots of use. It's finally giving out again and...

2.0 out of 5 stars Works but breaks easily
My experience was not as good as the other reviewer. This is a very handy thing to have if you don't have a microwave with a built-in turntable. It works well, but it is a bit slow and makes a loud noise as it's spinning. Also, some things are just too light to make it turn. To combat this, I put lightweight items on a heavy plate. 2.0 out of 5 stars Works but breaks easily, March 11, 2005

The downside is that it breaks very easily if you overwind it. And there's no real gauge for winding, no apparent stopping point. I usually tried to underwind it on purpose. But I guess I wound it a half a spin to far one day and there's no way to fix it. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a better alternative short of buying a microwave with a turntable. So in summary:

Pros: Works well when it works. Heats food evenly

Cons: Breaks easily; Light weights won't make is spin

Searching for a replacement for this have-to-have kitchen essential, I ended up with a list of Rodgers and Hammerstein musicals. This is what happens when one types "microwave carousel" into the search engine. So, please excuse me if I simultaneously sing Great Old Show Tunes and write this review ;-)

Like the Timex watches in the old commercials, these Microwave turntables take a lickin' and keep on tickin'! The one that I am replacing today has been a faithful friend for about 10 years, and its manually wound spring has finally sprung. It had a lot of hard wear along the way. These hardy handy-dandy Nordic helpers are indispensable for those whose microwave does not have a built-in Carousel. One need not interrupt one's TV viewing to get up to turn one's nuking TV dinner that pesky 1/4 turn that the meal maker mandates. The Micro-Go-Round does it for you:

5.0 out of 5 stars Long time user tells how to fix problems..., November 29, 2010
This review is from: Nordic Ware MIcrowave Micro-Go-Round 10 Inch (Kitchen)
I've had mine for years & bought several as gifts for family & friends. Several times over the years mine has been accidentally overwound & stopped rotating. I discovered that if you remove the three small plastic pins (using needlenose pliers) that hold the thing together, you are then able to unwind/reset the spring inside & get the thing going again. It's been a couple of years since I had ours apart, so I don't remember exactly what's inside, but once you remove the bottom, it'll be pretty self-evident what you need to do to get it working again. Once you've done this, put the top and bottom back together, line up the three plastic pins, insert them & you're in business again. This technique has never failed to get our turntable working again. Try this self-repair tip to avoid tossing a very nice and handy kitchen tool in the trash.

1.0 out of 5 stars Avoid Nordic Ware 10-inch Micro-Go-Round, June 13, 2005

Junk! The plastic shaft which connects the entire turntable to the wind-up spring motor is only about 1/4 inch in diameter. You crank up the turntable to the limit of the spring, and suddenly the shaft has to absorb all the angular torque of the turntable. When are you getting close to the limit of the spring? There is no way to tell. Bang, the shaft breaks. Another problem? The heat of the food warps the turntable over time. The warping disables the ability of the table to sense the weight of the food and start the table turning. Look for alternatives. Save the outrageous $30-$40 and buy a new microwave with a turntable built in.

1.0 out of 5 stars Nordic was once a better product!, December 23, 2007
This review is from: Nordic Ware MIcrowave Micro-Go-Round 10 Inch (Kitchen)
So disappointing! All plastic, gears stripped in less than a week. I had one of these turntables for many years before it wore out, I replaced it expecting the same quality and functional longevity. I will not venture another purchase.

Turntables were not standard equipment when I bought my microwave, so several years ago I bought a Compact Micro Go Round by Nordic turntable for it. It recently broke after many years of faithful service. I was surprised and pleased to see that they are still available. This one is much better then the one I had....more sensitive to pressure, to start the motion. I love it, and received it in a few days.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed - stopped working after 3 weeks, December 1, 2006
This review is from: Nordic Ware MIcrowave Micro-Go-Round 10 Inch (Kitchen)
I was very disappointed with this product. Some of the reviews said it was poorly made but I wasn't looking for a high quality product just something functional that would last a year or so. It lasted 3 weeks and then just stopped working. Initially when we wound it it would keep going even if no pressure on it so you had to rewind every time you used it. Then it just stopped. Of course by then the 30 days to return had passed. Please save your money.

This product does the job it is designed for when it works. Unfortunately it just does not last very long. I've had three because I have an expensive, built-in older microwave that doesn't have a rotator so I really need this type of product. I wish there was an alternative.

1.0 out of 5 stars I agree - not worth the price, June 29, 2005
This review is from: Nordic Ware MIcrowave Micro-Go-Round 10 Inch (Kitchen)
I've gone through two of these, lesser priced, but *not* exactly cheap turntables. I'm looking for a new one and they don't seem the easiest thing to find. MicheleK
