This bug pan is so cute!

Just be sure to use a spray with flour in it, like Baker's Secret or the Pam Spray with flour in it.

The Nordic Ware Platinum pans are lifetime pans that you'll pass on someday! This BUG pan is the cutest ever! Some tips I got from a PRO: 1. heat the pan as you pre heat the oven, then spray it while its HOT and fill it. 2. 1/3 cup batter per bug is plenty. 3. To make the bottoms flat, lay a knife down on the pan, before you remove the cakes, and slide it thru the bottom of the cake, removing the humps. 4. Cool cakes in pan 10 min then pour out on parchment paper. 5. Use a hotter oven (375) and a little shorter time to get the most definition of the bugs. 6. Never use SOAP on the pan, or put it in the dishwasher, just rinse it while its HOT and set in the warm oven to DRY. The Platinum Series gives you PERFECT release of baked goods and NEVER needs scrubbing. (I wrote these tips down because they work soooo well, and these top of the line pans deserve a little extra care.) I buy the Platinum pans as they are issued and some I have are over 10 years old and are still PERFECT because I use these tips!

The only problem with this cake pan is that my daughter's preschool class enjoyed her birthday bugcakes SO much, their teacher has asked me to make the cakes again. I'm online now to buy her a pan of her own! LOL (Cleaning out the nooks and crannies was a bit of a pain, till I discovered that the soft AVENT bottle brush I use on my son's baby bottles works beautifully! --on our more detailed cookie cutters too.)

I rarely bother to review products that have already been extensively reviewed by others, especially if my opinion does not vary much. But I just made my first thing in this pan, sort of as an "acid test," and it came out great -- to my great surprise. Homemade, loose-crumb-textured cornbread baked up really well. I sprayed the pan with Pam Baking Spray, filled each bug about 2/3 full, and baked at 400 degrees for about 18 minutes. They popped out effortlessly and the contours of each bug were very clear. Cleaning the pan is a minor nuisance, but this product is great. I'm excited to make other things in it!

My sons love these designs! Very detailed and I haven't any issues with getting them to come out in one piece as long as I thoroughly coat the pan with nonstick spray. Soak the pan and use a long bristle brush afterwards for easy clean up in the tight crevices.

I study insects for a living and one of my colleagues made me birthday cupcakes with this cake pan. They were so adorable! He didn't even have time to decorate them, but the high quality of the pan created just the right browning effect to make the shapes come alive. They were a huge hit! Apparently the pan comes with its own cake mix recipe that works really well with the pan and also tastes delicious!

I am buying one of these cake pans for my cousin for Christmas and I just received an Amazon gift certificate, so I might even splurge for one of my own! ENJOY!

I loved this pan! I taught a summer school course for young children and we ended our session with a picnic.
I made cakes for everyone and they were so excited! I just followed the recipe on the wrapper for confetti cakes and they were adorable. The cake details were intricate and each cake popped out without a problem.

This pan has worked well for so far for cupcakes, muffins, and pumpkin bread. The results have been consistently cute, and the only time they didn't release properly was when *I* did not follow the stated directions. I highly recommend using the recommended flour/oil spray. When I do that I have consistent results. The gluten free pumpkin bread I made had good releasing results with a nice layer of coconut oil. Be careful not to over fill the pan, as the results will be less attractive if you do. I have found that filling between half and 2/3 full works best, depending on how much rise you expect.

These bugs are so adorable and unique. Each one is definitely a conversational piece. I used regular boxed cake mix instead of the recipe that came with the pan. I used Baker's Joy spray and the cake popped out in one piece after cooling down. The bugs are very detailed and was quite a challenge to decorate (I'm not an expert cake-froster), although my 4-year old and my niece had a blast decorating them. I bought cream cheese frosting and used food coloring to make different colors. To avoid the challenge of using frosting the next time, I plan to bake this in chocolate and top it off with powdered sugar.
