5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful cakes!
This works perfectly! I own two different Nordic petit fours pans and have never had a single problem.

Yes, they do come out tiny, but you really should realize that just from seeing the name petit four.

The idea of having flower shaped cakes is pretty cool, but if I had to do it again I would not purchase this pan. The amount of batter has to be just right or the cake comes out looking bad and if you don't get all the crevices coated with shortening the cakes wont come out at all. Also washing the pan takes forever, I went at it with a toothpick, toothbrush, and bottle...

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful cakes!, July 15, 2010

This works perfectly! I own two different Nordic petit fours pans and have never had a single problem.

Yes, they do come out tiny, but you really should realize that just from seeing the name petit four.

To get the best cakes, use a tight crumbed cake recipe. Pound cake works great for petit fours. Since slicing would ruin these pretty cakes, try injecting fillings into the center. Ganache, frosting, and jam are great fillings.

Use a icing the cakes, freeze them four a couple of hours until firm. Dip the petit fours in brightly colored poured fondant or chocolate to coat and place on a cooling rack to dry.

Petit fours are a lot of work, but totally worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!, September 24, 2010

Fell in love with the pan when I first saw it. Bought it to make little cakes for my daughter's birthday party. Spraying the pan is a must (I used a spray containing flour) and the cakes pretty much just fell out of the pan when I turned it over.

Hard to clean? Sure, but I soaked the pan first, then used a baby's bottle brush (the kind with the bristles all around) to scrub each cavity. A few quick twists in each hole and the pan was good to go.

Wonderful item!

4.0 out of 5 stars Lovely little cakes, September 3, 2010
This review is from: Nordic Ware Platinum Collection Petits Fours Pan (Kitchen)
This petits four pan is well made...heavy and durable. I used a pastry brush to make sure all the little crevices were coated with non-stick floured spray and the cakes came out beautifully. I found that I had to use less batter in each cup than was called for in the included recipe. If I didn't decrease the amount, the cakes domed above the pan and had to be trimmed. I also had some difficulty with the glaze coating the cakes, but I think that was probably operator error. ;) Overall, I'm pleased with the pan and would recommend it others.

These are great when dusted with powdered sugar or a simple colored glaze to match the occasion. Just right for a two bite treat :) Great quality pan with consistent results!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very cute, December 21, 2011

I bought this to make bath bombs. Push the mixture down very firmly and let harden a bit. They come out like these really cute little hors d'oeuvres that you throw into your bath water and watch fizz. You can make them any color and even put a fragrance in. I know its not the purpose intended, but worked great for what I wanted.

5.0 out of 5 stars Makes great candy for gifts, August 2, 2010
This review is from: Nordic Ware Platinum Collection Petits Fours Pan (Kitchen)
I used this to make dark and white chocolate candies for gifts, and they turned out great. I had no problem with any sticking, so the shapes were in tack. I haven't tried cake mix in it yet; with a little Pam spray, I'm sure they will be fine.

The Product Description says that the pan makes 20 cakes and has a 10 cup capacity, meaning that each cake is 1/2 cup. This is WRONG. The pan makes 20 cakes, each a 1/10th cup size. That means the entire pan has a 2 cup capacity!!! If you're expecting to make more than bite-sized cakes this is NOT the pan for you. These cakes are TINY.

Otherwise the pan is the usual heavy duty solid Noric ware heavy cast aluminum pan with a non-stick surface. There are 4 different pretty flower cake designs. Unfortunately the one I received had a weird black residue on the pan that didn't come off.
