Nordic Ware Square Cake Pan with Lid, 9 Inch

I was thrilled to find that Nordic Ware, a highly respected company in the bakeware business, had this pan available.

First, it's the 9" x 9" size. This size can be hard to find. If you do much baking, you will run across recipes calling for a 9" x 9" pan; adapting the recipe to an 8" x 8" size is difficult and the results are not reliable.

I find this 9" X 9" size perfect for brownies and small-family cakes. It's easier to remove bars and brownies from this size pan, as you won't have to "dig them out"! This pan will give you 9 generous servings.

More importantly, this pan is made of aluminum. Aluminum is the best surface for baking, as chefs will tell you. Much of what is in the stores today is cheap steel. Steel is a poor conductor of heat, bakes unevenly and burns food. Aluminum is an excellent heat conductor, and will give you perfectly cooked, and evenly browned, cakes, bars and cookies.

I'm thrilled that aluminum is appearing in stores again, after 10-20 years of being hard to find. I hope a new generation will discover the benefits of baking with aluminum - it's the best!!
This Nordic Ware pan is made of thick, heavy aluminum. It is not flimsy, and will not warp with use.

As a bonus, the baking pan comes with a plastic lid. This makes storage of your cake or brownies so convenient - no plastic wrap or foil required - and you can see how much is left!

One hint, when cleaning aluminum pans, don't let water or suds sit in them for hours or overnight. This can cause discoloration (though it won't affect baking). Fill with soapy water and wash promptly. Your pan will clean easily and stay beautiful for a lifetime.

I like these Nordic Ware pans however this 9-inch one's lid doesn't fit as well as my 9x13 pan. Less of a seal. Still really great though! Very high quality and has some girth behind it.

I bought the sheet pans with covers and the square cake and brownie pans. They are quality sturdy pans. They bake very well and clean up easily. I am very happy with them and was very glad they were USA made.

But, the pan and lid had significant scratches all over. They didn't appear to have ruined the pan so I went ahead and used it.
The rolls baked well, but when removing from the oven to check them, the pan made crackling noises. Not sure what the noises were but the rolls were good.

I purchased this pan after reading other reviews. It bakes evenly with a nice golden brown. After you bake your goodies, you can keep it stored by using the lid that comes with the cake pan. Easy clean up as well. Several uses and no sign of wear. I also purchased the Nordic Ware insulated pie pan set. Love them both! Great present for your baker friends. Highly recommended. One of the few remaining made in USA items.

I bought this pan because I read all of the good reviews, and everyone was right. It's great! It's a very heavy duty and solid piece. I was worried that the cake would stick to the pan (because I'm used to using non-stick pans), but it didn't. It came out perfectly. The lid is also a great bonus. Nordicware bakeware is a little more pricey, but it's definitely worth it. These pans will last a long time.

excellent pan very heavy good construction, will last for a good long time, also nice lid fits well. Would buy this again, looking for cupcake & pie pans with lids next.

I love this Nordic Ware pan.... so much that I bought it in other sizes like rectangular, a cookie sheet and even a pie pan. I love that they ALL have lids. I get many compliments on the quality of these pans and recommend them to all.

I'd read the reviews and was still really surprised at how heavy these pans are, I'm very pleased. I have other aluminum pans that were my grandmothers and these are much heavier and nicer pans. I cook a lot of casseroles for meals and bought these to use as pans to freeze extra meals in since they have the lids for easy storage and were more durable than foil pans. They're such great pans I can easily use them everyday and not just for freezing dinners. The lids fit good and are nice and flat making it easy to stack other items on top. I've only used them a couple of times so far for cooking in and they cook nice and even and clean up very easy. Needless to say I have no complaints and am very happy with this purchase.

This 9 by 9 inch pan with a lid is everything you could want including the price. It is light, yet durable. It bakes like a dream, is easy to clean and I love the lid. Everything that you make in it will stay nice and fresh. You can't go wrong on this item. I highly recommend it.
