I come from a small farming community, in the mid-west. My family was of German descent. I bought this at a kitchen store and it's dangerous! The device that SUPPOSED to hold the irons on is completely ineffective. Instead of screwing on tightly it simply pinching against the inside of the mold. After "locking" it with the cheap plastic knob I went to work. The moment it got into the oil it started slipping! After cooking a couple of rosettes the mold kept...

I come from a small farming community, in the mid-west. My family was of German descent. The neighbor lady use to make these wispy cookies that are so thin and crispy that they just melt in your mouth. Also, when I went to my aunt's houses, many of them had these wonderful delights. I use to wish that my own Mother would make some of these cookies, but she would always say that it took a special tool that she didn't have and couldn't find.
Here I am, almost 60 years old. I ordered this special tool and now I am impressing all of my friends with these special treats. No one can eat just one. I must admit that it does take a bit of practice to turn out the beautiful rosettes. However, it is much cooler than heating up an oven to turn out the wonderful wish from my past.

5.0 out of 5 stars Friends will think you're a pastry genuis!, September 12, 2000

I have used this tool to make the rosettes. They are a wonderful light cookie that you dust with powder sugar. Warning: in our house they are gobbled up as quickly as they are made. They are deep fried so it is a job to be done by an adult, or teen age chef in the making. These cookies bring back wonderful memories for me, growing up it was mine and my sisters job to dust the cookies with the powder sugar. My older sister was allowed to make these pretty cookies, I was very envious. But, I did get to eat them! They are a wonderful addition to any holiday cookie collection. They are pretty, light and above all delicious! ENJOY.

This is one of the nicest accessory you can have in your kitchen! Make shells and fill with chicken or tuna salad that is very tasty and lovely to look at. I have used my Timbale for more than 20 years now and extremely pleased with it and plan on ordering additional to replace my own as well as gifts for others.

Instead of screwing on tightly it simply pinching against the inside of the mold. After "locking" it with the cheap plastic knob I went to work. The moment it got into the oil it started slipping! After cooking a couple of rosettes the mold kept slipping off and splashing hot oil on me. I used the correct pan, I read all the instructions, and I confirmed my rosette maker wasn't broken. It simply doesn't work without burning you. NOT SAFE AT ALL!!!!!! The cookies were good though.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not JUST swedish, they're Norwegian, too!, November 27, 2004
This review is from: Nordic Ware Swedish Rosettes & Timbales Set (Kitchen)
I love rosettes. Everyone always compliments me on mine, and 2 dozen disappear like magic at family gatherings. They're wonderful crispy cookies, though, if not crispy enough you can just put them in a 300 degree oven for about 5 minutes and that'll do the trick. They're really fun to make, but take a lot of time. And contrary to popular belief, they aren't just Swedish. Scandinavian is a good term to use, as rosettes exist in both Swedish and Norwegian cultures. My family is only Norwegian and we've been making and buying them for generations.

2.0 out of 5 stars Technically not stable, January 11, 2008

The irons do not stay on the handle firmly. The handle portion of the iron needs to be developed so that it holds the irons tighter. The irons fall off during the cooking process. It is poorly designed.

1.0 out of 5 stars VERY poor design!, December 18, 2010

Several reviewers have already said this but its a VERY poor design on the handle. Its not only dangerous but its totally ineffective. Half the time your rosette head will end up in the bottom of the hot oil. And since the heads are designed to ONLY work with this handle, you will end up throwing the whole thing out (if you are smart). Don't waste your money on the Nordic Ware brand. Get one that screws on.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed, December 27, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Nordic Ware Swedish Rosettes & Timbales Set (Kitchen)
I'm swedish and was very excited to try this set, as I loooooove Rosettes, but was disappointed in the construction of the product. During the cooking period of putting the iron in the oil, the iron slipped from the prong on numerous occasions. I was splattered with hot oil and ended up only being able to come away with a dozen cookies. Not sure why they designed this product the way they did. I think they need to do something besides a simple screw to hold the prong into place. Oh well, will keep searching for a set!

1.0 out of 5 stars 0 Stars-UNSAFE!!!, December 30, 2010
This review is from: Nordic Ware Swedish Rosettes & Timbales Set (Kitchen)
This product is TERRIBLE! My actual rating is 0, but Amazon won't let customers enter 0. I was so excited to receive this for Christmas and attempted to make a batch of rosettes tonight...ATTEMPTED is the key word here. As another reviewer stated, the tension knob is made of cheap plastic. I began with the star, and followed the scarce directions to attach the star to the rod. Once the tension knob was "secure" I noticed it seemed a bit loose no matter how much I adjusted it...that should have been a good enough tip off. Nope, I plunged ahead, happy with thoughts of rosettes dancing in my head...happy until the molds kept slipping off the rod. After a few splashes of searing hot oil, and burn treatments later, I scrapped the batch. I will be attempting to contact the company to see if my product is defective or if recall needs to be issued.

5.0 out of 5 stars works perfectly!!!!!!, January 17, 2009
This review is from: Nordic Ware Swedish Rosettes & Timbales Set (Kitchen)
I purchased the Nordic Ware Swedish Rosette Timbale Set before Christmas. It was my first time using this product. I remember my Aunt making these delicate cookies years ago. I had no problem using "two" molds at the same time. Simply spread prongs slightly and screw on the molds. I used a "fry daddy" which worked perfectly for me. Simply follow the recipe/directions included and there should be no problem!
