4.0 out of 5 stars Tunnel of Bundt
I was afraid to order this item after reading someone else's review but for me it worked great. I wish it were a little deeper allowing more filling (it holds about 2 cups of filling) but it gives a boring bunt cake some pizzaz. Here are some tips. Only fill the bundt pan until it barely will touch the bottom of the tunnel of bundt pan. I have a ten inch cathedral...

Nordic Ware Tunnel of Bundt
This may be the most controversial Nordic Ware product since turning the classic ceramic Kugelhopf pan into a cast metal Bundt pan. The previous reviewer gives good advice and I, too, have had success by being "volumetrically prudent" ... and have had my share of disasters when creating new recipes... hence the three-star rating. 4.0 out of 5 stars Tunnel of Bundt, September 14, 2007

I have a ten inch cathedral bundt and I used a 9 cup recipe and had about a 1/2 cup left over. If you are using a 10 cup bundt pan do not use a recipe for a 10 inch bundt pan - a 10 inch bundt pan yeilds 12 cups of batter. If you pour the batter to where the tunnel of bundt is submerged in it will overflow into the tunnel of bundt and you will have to cut it out - no fun ( at least that is what I heard...mine worked fine the first time).

And, while "soft foods" can fill a perfect tunnel, they usually do not slice neatly or stay in the tunnel... creating another "Soggy Bottom Bundt" challenge for intrepid Tunnel of Bundt bakers.
That being said, I will now bake a Spiced Prune Chrysanthemum Bundt and fill the tunnel with a complementary spiced cream cheese mixture... being sure to well chill the filled cake before slicing.
As a retired executive chef, I sent a suggestion to Nordic Ware that they add a companion pan item that would allow a contrasting cake to be baked and inserted into the tunnel in the main cake. Nordic Ware responded by saying they have sent my suggestion to their product development engineers. Actually, there are specialty cake pans that come close... but not one that I have found that truly fits the tunnel.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't bother, May 27, 2007

I was very excited to add this device to my collection, as I have several lovely bundt pans and do a lot of baking. However, the "tunnel of bundt" is awkward to use, and even with the pan filled just halfway with batter the baking cake overflowed INTO the device and I ended up having to cut the batter out of it when it was finished baking.

It would be much easier to simply cut a tunnel out of the baked cake and not trouble with this cumbersome thing. Alton Brown is right: don't bother with unitaskers!
