4.0 out of 5 stars Norfolk and Western : Diesel's Last Conquest, July 13, 2006
By
This review is from: Norfolk and Western: Diesel's Last Conquest (Paperback)
This book specifically covers the last days of steam engines and the transition to diesel engines. It contains some background information (text only) behind the decisions to convert from steam to diesel but is mostly formatted as black & white photos with detailed captions. It also contains a detailed list of Norfolk & Western's early diesel engines. The photos show Norfolk & Western's early diesel engines pulling freight and passenger trains. This book is a very good reference for the N&W modeler or railfan interested in their early diesels. As a N&W modeler, this makes an excellent part of my reference library.
