Good everyday dishes,

I registered for the Noritake Colorwave place settings when I got married five years ago. They have held up wonderfully, despite our rough treatment (we wash them in the dishwasher and stack them to store). Only a couple of pieces have any chips. They are slightly heavy, which my husband loves, and they simple colors compliment everyday living. They do eventually show little scratches and chip occasionally, but I have never had one break.

nice casual set,

Saran wrap does not stick to the dishes and it is very inconvenient to store food in fridge. Some of the cups and plates have different shade of color. Brand stamps on the bottom of the dishes are smeared or double-stamped and I do not like that either.
Overall they are nice everyday dishes but I do not think they are made with careful quality control.

Great quality, beautiful stoneware dish set,

I have owned this collection (service for 12) for 2 1/2 years and I love it. I have the chocolate brown color. I actually purchased from Macy's, not Amazon, but I wanted to comment since several people have left negative reviews and I have had none of the problems mentioned. They are our everyday set, and we only wash our dishes in the dishwasher. They are still in beautiful shape - no scratches, nicks, or chips at all. We also don't have kids yet though. I love these dishes - all of mine were well made (I inspected them all out of the box before we started using them), and I really liked that they were a stoneware but don't show the metal marks from the utensils like others do.
The only issues I have found with them are: 1) you can't put cling wrap on them (as another reviewer pointed out), so I use foil instead or if it's something in a bowl I put one of the small plates on top of it, and 2) coffee and tea do stain the cups over time, but I just put a small bit of bleach in a cup, fill it up with water, leave it for about 20 minutes and then pour that water in to the next cup. That gets rid of the stains and I just run them through the dishwasher to get the bleach out. I also own the serving platter and two of the serving bowls and love them too.

Though I didn't buy them through Amazon, the Noritake Colorwave (green) that I bought through Macy's over seven years ago has held up wonderfully for my family. We use them every day and have never (knock on wood) lost one to breakage, they show no scratches and have no chips. The color and shape is consistent throughout the pieces. We have dinner/salad/cereal bowls for 12 plus 2 vegetable bowls and a large serving plate. We put them in the dishwasher and store them stacked...a great product that has worked out really well for us!

4 years - No Chips or Scratches!,
This review is from: Noritake Colorwave Green 4-Piece Place Setting, Service for 1 (Kitchen)
I was searching for other pieces to add to my set and was surprised to see all the negative reviews, so felt compelled to add a review noting my good experience. My husband and I received 12 sets of the 4-piece place setting(6 green and 6 graphite) for our wedding 4 years ago and have used them extensively as our everyday dishes since then. We always wash in the dishwasher and are not especially gentle (these are everyday dishes after all) and have not experienced any chips nor any silverware scratches. And we've definitely banged dishes together in the sink, and on the edges of the granite counters around the sink. Every piece in the set still looks brand new after 4 years of daily use. I love the simple style, and the various other plates/bowls/platters/bakeware that Noritake continues to introduce to complement these dishes. I will agree that certain brands of plastic wrap do not like to stick, but I rarely store anything in the fridge in the bowls/plates. My husband and I spent a long time deciding on this set when we originally registered, and we couldn't be happier with our choice.

Dishes chip VERY easily,

This review is from: Noritake Colorwave 4-Piece Place Setting, Service for 1 (Kitchen)
I bought 10 place settings of these dishes because I like the style. However, after owning them for less than a year several of the dinner plates, salad plates, bowls and mugs have chips on the rim. They look terrible because when the graphite color is chipped it is very noticeable since the stoneware underneath is white. I am not hard on dishes and load them into the dishwasher myself. I owned my previous set of Dansk dishes from nearly 11 years and replaced them only to update the style. I contacted the company with my complaint but they simply said the chips are from banging them against another hard surface...not true. Dishes at this price point should be of high enough quality to withstand being washed in a dishwasher. As I said, I am the only one who handles them. I am embarrased to use these dishes and disappointed in Noritakes response.

This review is from: Noritake Colorwave Graphite - 4 piece place setting (Kitchen)
I have had this set for 4 years. We have a Colorwave graphite service for 16 and 4 platters. All of the platters are chipped even though they have only been used 5-6 times. We have lost 10+ pieces to breakage and even more to chips on the rims. We do stack the dishes, use them in the microwave and dishwasher but are not hard on them. We have had more delicate pieces for years that have never chipped. I really feel that they should be sold as fine china instead of daily tableware.
What I like... is the color, visual texture with smooth feel. I like the weight and size (they fit in a typical micro, cupboard and dishwasher). I like the slight dip in the plates to keep food on the plate. I like the size of the bowls as they are big enough for ice cream but don't crowd the table. The cups are sturdy, hold a cup of coffee and don't tip easily. While they do chip easily, they are small and chipped areas are relatively smooth, so they can still be used. The cream colored center is a very simple color and is easy to coordinate with for serving dishes. Since another poster mentioned it, my stamps are perfect on all of my dishes, and the color/shape is identical (within reason). They are neither too heavy (like Fiesta Ware) or too light (like Corelle), just right in my book. I will not be replacing pieces in the set nor will I buy this product again. I gave it 3 stars because while they have chipped/broken, they do have printed on the bottom: "oven safe, detergent safe, micro safe," they don't say dishwasher safe, so maybe that is the problem.

I love the raspberry Colorwave stoneware,

Gosh it is a bummer when the previous comment dealt with shipping time,
not product quality. I just bought a couple open stock bowls in a local store and am looking for more pieces at a competitive price. You know how most stoneware now has nasty rough edges on the bottom? Not this set from Noritake-as smooth as fine chine. The nicest stoneware I have found since I bought Mikasa many years ago. The color is a deep, soft maroon. Don't quite know why they call it raspberry. Great dishes!

Nice but shows scratches.,

I fell in love with these great dishes but I am dissapointed that they need to be replaced within a few years. They were our wedding set and I wish they didn't look awful. We only use them for family meals and use my husband's everyday Johnson Bros. dishes that are 50 years old! They look great. Too Bad the quality isn't like it used to be... unless we just got a "bad batch" although they were purchased from different stores where we registered... Nice to set the table with but will scratch unless your family uses plastic tableware. We don't.

After ten years . . .,
This review is from: Noritake Colorwave Green 4-Piece Place Setting, Service for 1 (Kitchen)
For our wedding registry, we chose this Colorwave set. That was more than ten years ago. I liked it because the color (we have green) was attractive, and it wasn't too fancy for everyday use. The set has held up fine, with the exception that two out of twelve bowls have nicked. The bowls nick more easily than the plates and coffee mugs, which haven't nicked at all. Considering it's been ten years, I don't think the nicking problem is all that bad. I just have to be extra careful with the bowls. They tend to nick when I'm washing the dishes and accidentally bang them against one another.
