5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME, January 15, 2006

Ron's best CD to date, and, for me, the best album to come out in all 2005.

Super great. Just hear "Overloaded", the insanity of "Real" and the feeling of "Pretty Ugly".

Sharp lyrics, insane guitar and extemelly nice music.

Bumblefoot kicks ass!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Foot's best album to date, January 3, 2008
This review is from: Normal (Audio CD)
Rather than too much crazy guitar playing like in his previous albums, Ron has actually written some really good songs, of course with the obligatory fretboard acrobatics but on a more toned down version. You could play this album to anyone and I would be surprised if they failed to enjoy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Thing That Ever Happened To Pop Rock, April 15, 2006
This review is from: Normal (Audio CD)
Finally someone got it right; Blending virtuosity with great songwriting and making it work in a poppy and marketable format. I honestly can't think of one significant instance of this phenomenon since the 80's. Congratulations to Bumblefoot. Hopefully one day they will market this well enough to be as popular and timeless as it deserves to be.
But one thing is for sure, this is one of the best albums I've ever heard, period.

5.0 out of 5 stars A delightful adventure in abnormality..., January 5, 2006
This review is from: Normal (Audio CD)
The newest installment in the Bumblefoot catalog is "Normal", which explores the idea of what it means to be normal in society and whether it's really worth altering oneself in order to fit. But despite it's name, "Normal" contains many of the quirky, out of the ordinary musical features that make it noticeably Bumblefoot.

While it is a very catchy and pop-punk induced record, it is not without a great display of talent. The guitar playing, arranging, and vocal performances are all wonderfully done. Ron Thal shows once again that he's not only a masterful guitar player, but also an outstanding singer. Dennis Leeflang commands the drums with wonderful beatwork to bounce you along the rollercoaster adventure.

Compared to Ron's previous work, this may be a more "together" album, returning to the musical unity found in his Sophomore effort, "Hermit". It displays the continued vocal strength of "Uncool" and a focus on the guitar from "9.11". All of Ron's releases have been brilliantly formed and this is no exception.

It's off the wall and on the hard side, kind of like Hands. funny words mixed with ron's guitar playing. I think it's real good.
