4.0 out of 5 stars Norman & Nancy Make Beautiful Music
The official title of this album is "The Norman and Nancy Blake Compact Disc." Originally released in 1986, this 64-minute CD consists of Nancy's 1986 album "Grand Junction" (tracks 4, 9, 12, 13, 15, 16 and 18) and Norman's 1985 album "Lighthouse on the Shore." 3.0 out of 5 stars great guitar work
One dosnt hear the quality of guitar playing that Norm Blake performs very often...better than Chet Atkins. The voice and fiddle work dont quite measure up to the guitar. It ia a useful collection for reference for pickers.

Originally released in 1986, this 64-minute CD consists of Nancy's 1986 album "Grand Junction" (tracks 4, 9, 12, 13, 15, 16 and 18) and Norman's 1985 album "Lighthouse on the Shore." Norman and Nancy are superb musicians on almost all instruments with strings--guitar, mandolin, mandola, fiddle, cello. There are only four vocals: "Hello Stranger," "Jordan Am a Hard Road To Travel," "If I Lose, I Don't Care" and "Wildwood Flower. Norman is a better picker than he is a singer, but their is a warmth and sincerity to his voice that serves well on these old-time country songs. Although there are a number of originals mixed in with the traditional songs on this collection, when you listen to it straight through they seem all of a piece. Timeless music. RECOMMENDED

5.0 out of 5 stars Norman & Nancy Blake Compact Disc, September 1, 2006

[...]
Norman and Nancy Blake have exceptional talent on stringed instruments such as bass fiddle, guitar and violin, with the occasional sounds of mandolin, banjo and accordion. This disc runs the gamut from the blue grass sounds of 'Hello Stranger' to my favorite on the disc, 'My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose', which is elegant and moving.

i must warn the listeners the volume of this cd is very low. you will have to turn your stereo up very loud to listen. then be careful to turn back down. before playing next cd. pity rounder won't remaster this cd for some better sound because the music itself is excellent.
