Ten Reasons to Own a Normandy Guitar
  1. The Look – From the classic arch top curves of the body, to the vintage Bigsby-vibrato tailpiece, to the distinctive rivets front and back, there is simply no other guitar like it.
  2. The Sound – The resonant, aircraft-grade aluminum body produces smooth, warm tones that ring true and long. Sustain is increased significantly when compared to that of a conventional wooden guitar body.
  3. The Feel –The Normandy weighs 8.6-pounds, which is roughly the same (or less) than most other electric guitars. It maintains perfect balance when on a strap, and is so accommodating that you may just be able to go at it all night.
  4. The Durability – This is a deceivingly solid piece of equipment.  You may be able to snap the neck, but the body will stand up to the most aggressive punk-inspired outbursts.
  5. The Neck – Our maple-on-maple and rosewood-on-maple necks are shaped close to what you would find on an old-school jazz guitar – not too fat…not too thin.
  6. The Pickups – Normandy Old School-Humbuckers with Alnico 5 magnets are overwound to 12K ohms for higher output, powerful midrange and driving tone.
  7. The Craftsmanship – Normandy Guitars are made one at a time with quality and durability as our foremost concerns; they are built to stand the test of time from one gig to the next.
  8. The Finish – The Chrome guitar is triple-electroplated, the School Bus and Army Green guitars are powder coated using a special baked-on finish and the Candy Apple Metal Flake finishes are far superior to the standard paint, stain, or varnish typically found on guitars.  Whatever the color, the appearance will outshine that of any guitar you’ve ever seen.
  9. The Service – Normandy offers a warranty against defective materials and workmanship for the life of the guitar (check with the vendor for details).  Normandy takes pride in every one of their instruments playing its very best right out of the box.
  10. Add it all up  –  Custom, boutique styling and quality that every player can afford.

2.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Guitar, beware of the finish.., June 1, 2011
This review is from: Normandy ATGHT-CH Archtop Guitar, Chrome (Electronics)
I have one of the original Chrome Normandy Guitars, serial # 53, mine has the Bigsby. What an amazing guitar! The feel and tone are the best of any electric I have ever played and the chrome finish is incredible. Everyone who sees it is awed.

But, the problem with chrome is when there is a problem with it, there is not much you can do about it. My guitar developed a bubble on the back the size of a fifty cent piece. I have no idea how long this has been going on as I just noticed it while cleaning it. Imagine my shock and dismay. No big deal, I thought to myself, Jim Normandy will know what to do. So, when I contacted Jim at Normandy guitars he stated that there was nothing that he could do for me as the warrenty only covers the electronics and hardware, not the finish!

What?!? The warranty states all defects in materials!!!! The finish is not covered as part of the materials???

This is a VERY expensive guitar, but if the chrome continues to lift off the back what the hell am going to do? If it was painted, no problem, just sand it down and repaint. But, with the chrome what are you going to do? Strip the whole thing?

Anyway, I love the look and feel and tone of the guitar, but I would be very leery about paying this much money for a chromed guitar again as now my guitar is not worth anywhere near what I paid for it. While this does not affect the tone or playability of the guitar, would you buy something that the finish is blistering off of?

I am going to sell it for whatever I can get out of it, big loss for me, and get a Les Paul or some thing else made of wood that can be repaired fairly easily...

Andrew

5.0 out of 5 stars Normandy Raises the bar!, February 19, 2009
This review is from: Normandy ATGHT-CH Archtop Guitar, Chrome (Electronics)
These days there are plenty of great guitars out there, but in my honest opinion, the Normandy's are in a class all of their own. The quality and craftsmanship are top notch, but what really sets these guitars apart from the rest is the ultra sweet tone of expertly designed aluminum bodies. The first time I heard one I was absolutely floored! To play one is nothing short of pure bliss, and they come in Chrome! Way beyond cool. You're wife will definitely be jealous.
