5.0 out of 5 stars Very Close To Foley, December 7, 2009

This review is from: Norpro Grip-EZ Granny Fork (Kitchen)
I'm loving it!! The Norpro Grip-EZ Granny Fork is a perfect substitution for the Foley, might even be a little better in some areas. First, let me say, if you want a Foley, head over to Ebay and be prepared to drop $30.00. You can still get one in decent shape. The Norpro though, takes what was so ingenious about the Foley and cranks it up a notch or two. While I love my old standby, I usually only pull it out once a year. It's tradition and a collectors item but it won't hold up to daily use any longer. The Norpro is another story. The sturdy rubber handle will take a beating and the business end of Granny will complete the job in no time at all. The tines on the Granny are a little wider but not so much so to alter your finished product. You can see from my picture (marks on Granny are light reflections)the difference is minimal. Granny is happy in the dishwasher and I believe no cook should be without one. It's the one kitchen item you didn't know you needed and will love. I'm getting another for myself and a few more for friends. This time of year, lots of bakers give mixes for the receiver to bake off at home. Try substituting a Granny Fork for the typical wooden spoon that often gets tied to the packaging. You'll make a huge impression and it will end up being a favorite for anyone lucky enough to receive it. Norpro was thinking outside the box on this one and it shows. One of the best not so "new" kitchen items out there and it's less than $7.00. Can't be beat!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great blending fork, November 30, 2009

I found this on Amazon after watching some episodes of The French Chef. Julia Child used a strange looking "bent fork" to blend things and I thought it looked handy, so went on a quest to find that fork and buy one.

Well, they don't make those anymore, but this looked like the next best thing. I bought three of them - one for me, and two for gifts, but two of them are now in my utensil crock! ;-) (My daughter's getting the third one for Christmas.)

I love these for blending pie and biscuit dough and mixing up cornbread; they do a great job. I have arthritis in my hands, so I also like the chunky, easy to grip handle.

I can't believe the price on these right now though! I paid $2.61 each, and they're now selling for $14.99! I was going to buy more of them and put them away for gifts, but at this price, I won't be able to do it.

I know prices change on here sometimes, but this is ridiculous!

My mother always used a fork like this one (the original Foley fork) and I can't imagine baking without it! It is a simple product that accomplishes complex tasks. I just bought two - one for my daughter-in-law and one for my son's girlfriend. It is fun to use a product that has met the test of time!

5.0 out of 5 stars Handy tool, January 11, 2006
Has a good feel and makes blending larger portions a breeze. Great for scrambling eggs, blending bread crumbs, and when baking, mixing dry ingredients . Hand mixing muffin batter? This is a must have tool.

good thing I was there - my husband wanted to flatten the tines! The unusual shape adds in stirring but is still fairly flat. For me,the fork speeds up stirring and blending. Have to admit I saw on an old Julia Child show and I was intrigued, so had to try.

5.0 out of 5 stars Foley Fork modified, July 31, 2008

The old Foley Fork(granny fork),now the Norpro Grip-EZ fork is a marvel in the kitchen...from making pie crusts, blending in the flour and lard...or to make a batch of chocolate chip cookies. The handle gives strength to the hand to whip, stir or to smuck the ingredients together. The forked tip provides a more uniform mixture faster and it is designed to clean off the tines easily. No kitchen to me is complete unless you have this very versatile fork!

This funky fork is excellent for mixing. I tossed blueberries with sugar and flour mixture for pie and it worked better than anything else I have ever used. Use this when you are 'tossing' or blending ingredients. Would work well when beating eggs and then adding ingredients to the mixture. After receiving one as a gift, I purchased 8 for friends and relatives as stocking stuffers for Christmas!

I have used a blending fork my entire life. When my old fork broke, I started looking for a new source. That wasn't easy! Thank you Amazon for carrying a source! My family loves these!

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT GRANNY FORK, August 16, 2007

This review is from: Norpro Grip-EZ Granny Fork (Kitchen)
These forks are outstanding products - they are a variation on the old Foley Forks that were a standard for so many years. These new designs are sturdier, yet do the same outstanding mixing of both dry and liquid ingredients for your recipes. They are easy and quick to use and easy to clean. Really glad we found them. Will never be without them again.
