5.0 out of 5 stars Norpro Marble Pastry Roller
Very nice product. I have looked all over for this type of product. I have had a stainless steel version and a wood version and am replacing an old wood model.

3.0 out of 5 stars The handle is too short and other things
I had the all wood Norpro 3078 and I loved it because the handle was longer and fit my "Man Hands". I had the all wood Norpro 3078 and I loved it because the handle was longer and fit my "Man Hands". The 3078 has cast aluminum on each side of the wooden grip to hold the rollers which make it longer and easier to grip. I have I admit I've kind of abused it. I left it soak which I know makes the wood swell and eventually the wood cracks and discolors. So after I ruined the one I had I thought I'd step up to the Marble Roller.

The Marble roller seemed better for many reasons I could neglect it and not worry about it being ruined, it is heavier so it would have more weight to roll the dough out, the marble would not stick to the dough and there are no pores that the dough could get into. I was correct about all of these assumptions but there are flaws other than the small handle that I didn't like. The first thing I noticed is the wire that holds the rolling pins to the handle were bent so the rolling pin was crooked, I bent that out. The next thing i noticed is that the bushings on the side of the marble rolling pins fall out all of the time, I guess I could have epoxied them on.

I gave this one up and just bought a new 3078 again. I just take better care of so it lasts longer than the previous one.

P.S. I've noticed Amazon shows two different versions of the wooden roller with the same item number. there is the longer one like I've mentioned and a short version that looks like this marble one.

1.0 out of 5 stars Broke after two weeks!!!, November 6, 2009

We bought this about a month ago to replace the old wooden one we had, the middle part, what you hold onto, broke after about 2 weeks. We were surprised to see that marble could break like that. Don't recommend this.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed, October 31, 2010

I was disappointed with the construction of this item. There isn't a hole drilled all the way through either side of the rollers. 1/2" deep holes were drilled into either side and then the metal prongs fit into that. This means the metal prongs frequently pop out while you're using it. The holes aren't finished well. They're rough and I can see a crack stemming from one that will, with use, crack the marble all the way through. Very cheaply made. I really do not recommend buying this item.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad Design, April 5, 2010

It was nice, but it broke after the first usage. The large roller side has little metal guides and they pop out of place easily.

I bought two of them and they both broke after first use, firt by me and second by my kids.

The bar should be solid through the marble and it is not.

I would recommend the wood models, DO NOT BUY THIS ONE UNLESS YOU WANT TO FIX THE DESIGN.

2.0 out of 5 stars Pizza no roll, January 30, 2011

This product does not work, any pressure applied stops the roller. The wire frame is not strong enough to hold it's form. Nice idea, but not functional, Who tested this product before production, just another drawer filler.

I received this quickly after I ordered it. However, it was broken when I received it. The piece that holds the bar into the stone has fallen out and is loose. I have tried to use it anyway and the stone works somewhat well. I have fixed it and it does work. Works better if you chill it first. I would order it again. Very handy tool, would have given it 5 stars if it hadn't arrived broken.

Bought this for one specific purpose - and it doesn't work for me. Despite recipe with 1/3 butter, dough sticks, and is useless for my purposes. Seems to be made with decent quality, and I may find some other useful task for this...

At first I wasnt sure I liked using this roller for my pizza crust but after the 3rd pizza I figured out how to use it. The roller was shipped out fast, I would purchase from this company again. I'm happy with my roller.
