5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent pastry blender for the dedicated cook
Cooking is my hobby; while I don't get to really cook as often as I'd like, when I do I want to use the best ingredients and tools that I can afford on a grad student budget.
Pies are one of my specialties, and until this week I'd used the old two-knife method for cutting shortening and butter into the flour crust mixture. Having been asked to make all the pies...

1.0 out of 5 stars Buy a different one
I bought this in November--by December it was already broken and useless. It's not like I was using it in a commercial setting! I made about four pies before the handle began to turn. The screws move, making it difficult and uncomforable to use. It's poor preformance is the reason I'm back on amazon, looking for a new one. Don't bother with this cheap thing!

The blender itself would be fine expcept the handle keep comeing apart every time I use it. The screws rotate with pressure and it comes apart when using.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent pastry blender for the dedicated cook, November 22, 2011

Having been asked to make all the pies for a massive Thanksgiving dinner, I decided to splurge and purchase this pastry blender. I had one in the past, but it was incredibly cheap; the thing got so bent up after two or three uses that it had to be chucked. I have not, however, been disappointed in this blender. I "christened" it with a triple batch of pie dough this morning, and was extremely pleased with the comfortable handle and the sharp blades. Five stars! I'd definitely buy it again, though I don't anticipate having to do so for quite some time.

This is a really good pastry blender for the price. It's sturdy and works well. Usually a good one like this costs at least 3 times as much.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!, September 12, 2011
This review is from: Norpro 3245 Grip Ez Pastry Blender (Kitchen)
I use it for more than just flour and pastry recipes, and it's sturdy and holds up just fine with all of it. This product was an upgrade from a flimsy wire pastry blender that bent out of shape over time, so that's my only comparison, and this Norpro 3245 Grip Ez is awesome. Shipping was efficient, nothing wrong with the packaging, and no scratches or dents. I'm pleased.

5.0 out of 5 stars pastry made easy, January 28, 2011

Attention, foodies and weekend bakers: You should get this pastry blender. It does a great job . . . so much better than using your hands or two knives. It works quickly, blends thoroughly, and the handle is comfortable (even for you left-handers). This gets kept close at hand in the drawer, rather than stowed away in the baking tools basket in my closet, because I use it often. Highly recommend.

4.0 out of 5 stars I love having a pastry blender, January 15, 2011

This is a good product with an ergonomic handle. It works well to blend shortening into dry ingredients for pastry. My one complaint is that under heavy pressure the handle can rotate about 10 degrees or so; not to affect the blending much but just more of an annoyance. Otherwise I absolutely love it.

Well made product. This pastry cutter works excellent for cutting shortening into flour for pie crust, biscuits, etc. I have used one like it for many years. I was delighted to find one like mine to pass on to my daughter. This is a "must have" for anyone that bakes. I have never been disappointed by anything purchased from Amazon.

4.0 out of 5 stars Useful!, June 15, 2011

I used to use two knives to blend butter and flour before getting this.
This blender saves so much time; however, using two knives seems to be better to make puffed-up biscuits.
So when I use the blender, I try to move so as air to go inside.
P.S.when I got this product, some blades were bent a little bit.I fixed it with my hand.

It's a great pastry cutter for the price. I have no complaints EXCEPT I wish someone would make one where the blades don't get so gunked up.
