Norpro Icepop Molds are Fabulous,
By Florida Girl (Largo) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Norpro Ice Pop Maker (Kitchen)
The Norpro Icepop Mold is great & fairly easy to use. I read all the reviews before purchasing this product. I leave a half-inch between the liquid and the top of the mold, then freeze until slushy (about a half-hour in my high-efficiency freezer), put on the metal cover, insert popsicle sticks and freeze until fully firm. I remove the metal cover, run warm water over the mold, grasp the sticks one at a time (there's some suction and then the popsicles pop out) and put each on plastic wrap, then three to four in a zip-lock freezer bag, and store in the freezer. I'm ready for the next flavor combo and my family helps themselves to great popsicles throughout the day. Our last flavor combo was honeydew melon with cream and Tupelo honey - & chopped pistachios.

I like the Donvier molds better. This has a steel plate on top with holes for the sticks. Unfortunately, the sticks sink or float to the side because the holes are too big. You have to hold the mold under warm water for about 10 seconds to get a frozen pop out of the mold.

If you soak the sticks in water for about an hour before you use them, they won't float up or expand...making it easier to get them out of the tray after the popsicles are frozen. Enjoy!!

homemade popsicle/fudgesicle are the best,
By
This review is from: Norpro Ice Pop Maker (Kitchen)
I love this product. I make my own sugar free fudgesicles and they are great. Even my finicky neighbor thought they were terrific. This product makes something that adults can really appreciate, and I am sure children would too. I have no kids but grandnephew though fudgesicles tasted just like store bought or better. Simple easy to make. Fudgesicles, pudding mix, 3 c. mile, and three dollaps of either plain yogurt or sour cream, mix in blender and poor into mold. Should fill up all ten. Freeze for 4 hours and ta da...fudgesicles. Enjoy

I don't know what the others are complaining about...,

...The popsicles come out pretty easily if you run the molds and top quickly under warm water, then squeeze the molds to loosen, and they pull right out! Just remember to not fill the molds completely to the top as to avoid the popsicle expanding and sticking to the lid when freezing. I love how this set has 10 molds!

The ice pop maker is a sturdy product, well made and easy to use. The top is a little tricky to pull off from the sticks after the pops are frozen so instead I let the pops freeze without the cover until the sticks can be inserted. The top then really isn't necessary. I've made lots of flavors by blending instant pudding mix with milk and adding chocolate chips, chunks of cereal or packaged crumb crusts as I pour the mixture into the molds. A few hours later I run hot water over the plastic to unmold. Wrap the pops in waxed paper and place in a zip lock freezer bag to store in the freezer. Try combinations using flavored syrups for coffee drinks.

I bought 3 different popsicle making sets to have some fun and make some healthy treats. This one is my least favorite of the three by a long shot. It doesn't come complete apart so to get a popsicle out you have to soak the whole thing in water. Then it is wet and you must dry it before putting it back in your freezer... unless you would like it frozen to your freezer, of course. Also, the lid was a pain to get off. The first time I just ran it under water and that helped a bit (still wasn't as easy as I'd like for the little ones), but it's better just not to use the lid at all. Freeze the pops partially, then insert the sticks. I was most greatly disappointed that I can't take it completely apart though, that's the worst part.

NOT EASY USE,

Once they are frozen, it is a fight to get them out without wetting the container, and then what does one do with them after they are all loose? AND, if you try to leave them in the container to refreeze after you take out the one you wanted, then just try to get that stupid top back on ...Grrrrr! And if you do manage to get it on, it falls off anyway! Grrrrrr..

All around a great product. Hard to get the sticks in straight, but other than that, I have no complaints. The shape and size of the popsicles is just perfect, and I like the fact that you use disposable wooden sticks. I love what you can make with them. My friends think it's a riot when I make them popsicles, and I like making them cause I can make healthy popsicles that taste great! My favourite is frozen pureed fruit...

I was initially worried buying this after reading reviews but I have had such good experience with it I had to write. You have to snap the molds in one side at a time, (from front to back, not side to side) and no problem with the lid or sticks either, just let it warm a little to get the lid off. I've never had a problem with the sticks and we use this mold constantly. The molds snap off by rocking the mold back and forth, it gets better with time. We remove the pops by immersing 1-2 individual molds at a time in hot water in a 1-2 cup pyrex measuring cup for about 40 sec or so and it releases. I make jello pops for .9 cents each, dryers can't touch that. 1 sm. box jello,.52 cents 1 pkg unsweetened koolaid,.20 cents, 3/4 to 1 cup sugar,.18 cents, 2 cups hot water, 2 cups cold water, mix, until dissolved and pour into molds and freeze. We love it!!!!! 10 pops for 9 cents each. Try berry blue, strawberry, grape, watermelon w/invisalble kiwi watermelon koolaid), orange, lemon lime, lemon, black raspberry etc.. I have also frozen commercial yogurt in it, & don't recommend that because yogurt quickly loses it's flavor when frozen, so if you do I suggest adding fruit ar sweetened berry puree or something for taste. I hope this helps someone.
