Customer Reviews

I like this reamer because it's made out of bamboo.
Bryan M. Clark
So much faster and much less mess than my juicer which is a pain to get in and out and clean just for the juice of one or two lemons/limes.

Got this to replace our excellent lost wooden citrus reamer. In my opinion, everyone who uses citrus juice in cooking or drinks needs a bamboo or wooden citrus reamer. The bamboo is even better than the wooden one we had since the edges are a bit sharper.

Overall, both wood and bamboo far outshine the glass reamer in terms of cost, ease of use, fast cleanup, and the ability to get all the juice from a half of a citrus fruit. The mechanical juicer takes up too much space & lacks portability, uses electricity, is SO much harder / time-consuming to clean, and leaches plastic into the juice.

The bamboo version gets all the juice out and is a snap to clean since all it takes is a quick rinse and dries quickly in a dish drainer or dishwasher rack. No need to wash with soap, which is great since who wants soap in her citrus juice?

I have tried many citrus juice extractors. This is small, cheap gets out a lot of juice, and cleans up quickly. But there are several minor problems, I wind up not using it. It is made from several pieces of bamboo glued together and I think coated with plastic. I would like solid wood so it does not leech chemicals. Another thing, I find it tends to squirt out juice in stray directions and make a little mess, which reduces the convenience. For half a lemon, I just squeeze it by hand. For a handful of lemons, I use a stainless steel "pliers" press from Norpro, which does a really good job but is too much cleanup effort for half a lemon. For more than a handful, I use an electric auger type which is yet more cleanup but wow is fast. I am glad I tried this, but in the end I always use something else.

Maybe it's just because it's brand new. Maybe it's because it's bamboo instead of whatever kind of wood most of them are. Maybe it's because my last one was plastic, and the wooden ones are better. Or maybe I was just so happy to receive a new one after several months of not having one. Whatever the case, this thing is an absolute pleasure to use. I'd recommend it to anyone who needs to juice small-to-medium amounts of citrus.

Wow. Really impressed with how quick and easy this is to use and clean up and was really surprised at how much juice it released from one lemon. The only tiny drawback (and the only reason it doesn't rate 5 stars) was that the bamboo itself was a little rough and very slightly 'splintery' but I imagine that it'll smooth out with regular use and/or a light coating of mineral oil. I always opt for wood/bamboo over plastic utensils when practical.

Also tried with a key lime but the reamer's just a wee bit too big so I'll stick with the garlic press for those.

This is a nearly-great reamer. As other reviewers have noted, the bamboo is hard, and its crisp edges seem to do an especially good job of getting out more juice with less mess than would a glass or plastic dome-type juicer. It rinses easily and looks highly attractive, almost like a piece of fine art. My only grudge against it is that the handle is too short for my hand: when I hold it, the handle only reaches to about the middle of my palm, so that I'm really grasping it with just my index and middle fingers--functional but awkward. If the handle were an inch longer, I'd be five-starring. As it is, I think this reamer would be fine for anyone with delicate hands, but for me, with my average-sized man mitts, using it feels a little bit like riding a bike that's too small.

I like this reamer because it's made out of bamboo. It's a little less messy than squeezing the citrus with your hand and gets more juice out.

I have a similar product and purchased this particular one as a present for a friend. I prefer the bamboo type over the plastic type as the natural wood provides a texture that makes it easier to hold once you start juicing. Any one looking for an affordable yet essential tool for their kitchen needs to pick up one of these.

This was an inexpensive purchase made after seeing a chef on a TV show completely juice a lemon with ease. We bought the maximum of three, giving the other two to others in our big family. We all agree: A+++. Bamboo is a very hard wood, so the items should last a long time.
