Product Description

Package Quantity: 1

The secret to beautiful roasted poultry, served moist and golden brown, is constant basting. This tool creates powerful suction to retrieve succulent juices. For best results, run it under hot water before basting, so the temperature of the baster will be warm. Measures 11-inch/28cm. Holds 1-1/2-ounce. Silicone bulb heat resistant to 450F/230C. Stainless steel with needle and brush. Silicone bulb.

Customer Reviews

Easy to clean.

The product itself is durable, stainless steel, and the plastic plunger thingy seems like it will last.
Joseph Turner
This baster has great suction and no matter how hot it gets there is never any danger of it melting.

My mother has a stainless steel baster, given to her and my father as a wedding gift. Circa 1956. It has stood up not only to heat, but the test of time also. Hot liquids don't bother it. I have looked and looked (for years), for one that was stainless steel. I could never find one and so I always ended up with the plastic kind, claiming they could handle hot hot temps and/or liquids...which they couldn't and would always promptly melt on me. When I saw this baster, it was a no-brainer to purchase. I'm not sure I'll ever use the injector, but the baster has already been tested and lived quite well up to the reputation I already had in my head for it.

This Norpro baster works excellent for BHO and (medicinal purposes), and I would highly reccomend it for anything cook-wise as well.

It's the best baster I've ever had. I know that it will last me for the rest of my life, and I will pass it on to my children. It is exactly as advertised...and more. I would recommend it to anyone. Great price, great value, great product!

Love this baster. I wanted to replace my old, plastic baster because it was likely BPA-laden. Imagine my surprise when I found this stainless steel version!

Pros:
Sturdy construction
Stainless steel to last a lifetime & for easy cleaning
Bulb is silicone; so, it can handle the heat & is probably less likely to crack
Baster tapers more precisely to a point - helpful for basting in tight spaces
Brush/cleaner included!
BPA-free
Sleek look

Cons: what cons?!

I wanted a stainless steel baster to avoid any chemical leaching that might come from plastic ones. Also I was tired of using the spoon method of scooping liquids over my chicken and meat. This works just as a baster should. Yes, sometimes the liquid leaks out, but usually I work quickly enough to make use of the leaks over the meat and chicken. The included cleaning brush doesn't reach all the way to the tip, but using a straw sized cleaner and washing/rinsing with hot water easily gets the whole thing nice and clean. Also, I usually store the bulb and tube separately to ensure they fully air dry. I haven't really used the needle attachment, though, but it looks like it might be useful down the line.

I bought this one, as my plastic one melted the first time I used it to baste a turkey. This is great quality - comes with a small screw on nozzle for injecting meat/or more delicate basting operations. Also comes with a cleaner. Forget plastic - go steel. Recommended.

I can't seem to get the hang of basting with this, the liquid spurts out the tip as soon as I start to lift it from the source... the liquid doesn't all stay suspended in the baster as I move the baster to where I want to drop the liquid. It spurts and drips here and there uncontrollably. But maybe I just can't figure out how to put the bulb on correctly to acheive the right interior pressure. Anyway, i've certainly had easier-to-use, less messy basters in the past.

I bought this baster for transferring oils into molds for my solid lotions. The stainless steel is nice and sturdy, plus it keeps the oil warm and melted. The suction however is not great. The liquid runs right out of it unless you use the tip. This can be a problem if you are concerned with oils and fats cooling and hardening inside of it. It comes with a cleaning brush that gets some of the reside out. I find that pouring boiling water down it works better though.
