5.0 out of 5 stars Great baster
My mother has a stainless steel baster, given to her and my father as a wedding gift. Circa 1956. It has stood up not only to heat, but the test of time also. Hot liquids don't bother it. I have looked and looked (for years), for one that was stainless steel. I could never find one and so I always ended up with the plastic kind, claiming they could handle hot hot temps...

1.0 out of 5 stars Great concept - Poor execution
Sounded great to me, but don't try to suck up those great turkey drippings from the bottom of the pan. Gets clogged very easily, then when you squeeze it to empty, it spurts out all over the place...not nice to have hot oily juice on the loose in the holiday kitchen. So,how about using it without the tip...not nice either. Won't hold the contents in. I guess you could say...

My mother has a stainless steel baster, given to her and my father as a wedding gift. Circa 1956. It has stood up not only to heat, but the test of time also. Hot liquids don't bother it. I have looked and looked (for years), for one that was stainless steel. I could never find one and so I always ended up with the plastic kind, claiming they could handle hot hot temps and/or liquids...which they couldn't and would always promptly melt on me. When I saw this baster, it was a no-brainer to purchase. I'm not sure I'll ever use the injector, but the baster has already been tested and lived quite well up to the reputation I already had in my head for it.

It's the best baster I've ever had. I know that it will last me for the rest of my life, and I will pass it on to my children. It is exactly as advertised...and more. I would recommend it to anyone. Great price, great value, great product!

I have managed to melt every single baster I've ever owned. Except this one. It's well worth the few extra dollars to not have to buy one every single time you need one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Made to last forever!, January 3, 2012

I've had at least five basters in my 30 years of cooking. All of them cracked or split or warped from the heat of the basting juices. I always worried about the heat causing the plastic to leach into the food, too. All of them were hard to wash because I didn't have the right sized brush. I was discouraged because a baster is a necessary tool for the kitchen, and it seemed I was destined to buy a new one every few years.

I'm really delighted with this Norpro Stainless baster! The stainless part is heavy gauge stainless steel that will never warp, crack or melt. It won't be giving off any plastic chemicals, either. The rubber bulb is thick and strong, and will last for years. It comes with a little brush that fits perfectly in the tube and can reach into the bulb part too. And if I want to inject juice into my turkey, there's an attachment that screws securely on the tip of the baster. I'm really pleased with the quality of this product, and recommend it to anyone who has gotten tired of cheap plastic basters letting them down.

This baster worked very well. I bought the stainless to replace a plastic one that melted the first time I used it. Also, don't have to worry about breaking like glass. Very happy with this purchase!

After melting even the 'good' silicon tip basters syphoning off bacon fat, I found this Norpro Stainless Steel baster.
Withstands everything so far, easy to clean... I don't even see a way to break it!
Worth the money for this often used item!

Nice product. I have been looking for a stainless steel baster that wouldn't melt like the plastics ones for a while now. It even comes with a wire cleaner and a fluid injector.
