The Norpro 682 Ice Cream Scoop is the best I have ever used. It glides smoothly and easily through hard-packed ice cream. I'm ordering more of them to give as gifts. Highly recommend.

I wanted a scoop that wouldn't bend regardless how frozen the ice cream is. This does the job. The end while not sharp is tapered well to scoop ice-cream easily. Great value. Have seen these for up to twenty or more. Would buy another but I doubt this one would ever wear out or break.

Update 2/23/12: Well I made a terrible mistake and accidentally put this in the dishwasher a few months back. So it didn't wear out or break but is effectively is ruined. Now it will leave a residue on the ice cream. I knew it was not supposed to be washed in the dishwasher and as a result had to toss it out (whatever happens to the metal in the dishwasher is clearly catastrophic to the scoop). I considered lowering my rating but it was my fault. Its an excellent scoop but if you want to get a dishwasher safe one go for the OXO model that is stainless steel. I switched over to it so as not to worry if I or someone else runs it through the dishwasher. Its a different style but also heavy duty and dishwasher safe. Cost is a little higher but I figured since I cant ruin a thick stainless steel one it will be the last one I have to buy (although I thought the same thing on the aluminum one here). Time will tell but so far so good.

My sister gave me one of these scoopers and told me how great it was! She said it was easier to scoop out the ice cream and since I had surgery for Carpal Tunnel I was anxious to try it. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!! It really is easier to scoop!!
I had company over and someone was kind enough to load the dishwasher and it ruined the scooper!!! I was so upset about it! I went on line to find it because I just HAD to BUY ANOTHER ONE!! I now have my new one and I'm very HAPPY :>)
