5.0 out of 5 stars Cool gizmo, lots of uses
I have a couple of these, and they are useful for kids' schoolbooks and reference material as well as for cookbooks in the kitchen. My only criticism is that particularly large, heavy books outweigh the cookbook holder, but it can be propped against the wall. It is reasonably priced and sturdy, and doesn't take up much space. Just right for me.

2.0 out of 5 stars Broke too easily
Had it for three months, and loved using it - when it fell, it shattered. If it had cost $2.99, I wouldn't complain, but for ten bucks I'd hope for plastic that would withstand some wear and tear.

5.0 out of 5 stars Had it for years, wouldn't cook without it, December 8, 2009
This review is from: Norpro Acrylic Cookbook Holder (Kitchen)
I like this cookbook holder very much. I have had it for years. I read the other reviews. When cooking instructions come from a magazine or a one page recipe, i put another cookbook behind it to make it rigid. The only thing is when the recipe is in the front and continues to the other side of the page, or is over multiple pages like Julia Child's 'The way to cook', page-turning mid recipe can become a challenge. Sometimes my hands are totally in flour or what have you and I need to wash them to turn the page, which is harder since the cookbook holder holds the page. However, that would be true for any cookbook holder. I was looking a the more expensive cookbook holders and cannot see their big advantage. This is light, clear and easy to work with. I would buy it again and am getting one for my daughter for Christmas.

4.0 out of 5 stars Handy!, November 17, 2009

Have only had it a few months, but so far, it's been great. The plastic is flexy enough to handle thicker cookbooks as well as thin ones. My only wish would be that the backside was slightly higher, as I've found that thin books, such as a magazine, tend to flop backwards a little bit. Keeping it open (and not folded on itself) seems to help, as the binding gives it a bit more spine.

Haven't dropped it yet *knock wood* but I've not had any other trouble with it.

I bought this cookbook holder to replace a similar cookbook holder that had broken. This cookbook holder holds your page open as well as protects your cookbook from spills and splashes. Small, medium, and large cookbooks fit in this holder, although extremely thick or oversized cookbooks may not fit. I like having my cookbook displayed upright for easy reference while I am cooking as well as the knowledge that my precious cookbook is safe and secure behind acrylic. This cookbook holder is lightweight without being prone to easily tipping over. I have used cast iron holders, but worried about cooking splashes and cast iron is quite heavy. This holder could also be used for hands-free viewing of other books.

Great cookbook holder. I keep mine sitting on the kitchen counter with a cookbook in it all the time. It's priced right and does the job just fine.

This is a great product. Both my wife and I use it to place books or other materials on when we are typing on the computer. It holds a good sized book.

I purchased this to replace a similarly designed cookbook stand that cracked after many many years of use. It is OK - worth the price but not more. The angle of the bookholder is too 'vertical' whereas it should be leaning back so I can read the recipe while it is on the countertop. Also, it seems to be a thinner plastic. As noted for the price, it works just fine - but I will try and find what I want locally to check quality when this one goes.
