As a trial run, we bought a stainless steel composter and 2 filters and started to compost our kitchen scraps early Spring 2008. We changed the filter once in the summer. During the initial 6 months, there was
1. no offensive smell to humans
2. no attractive smell to bugs
In September we ordered more filters. We are happy with our composter and will continue to recycle our scraps.

There's really not much to say about this, but if you have the "Stainless Steel Compost Keeper", these replacement filters are must. Each one really does last a while, so you will not need to have many of these... but they work well.

Arrived on Time and haven't had to change my filters yet. My husband pulled out the old ones to look at how you replace them and he put the old ones back in. They can be rinsed but not squeezed. Anyone having problems replacing the filters, you don't unscrew anything, You just pull out one filter and then the other through the hole. Pretty simple but looks like the lid should come apart but doesn't. I love my compost keeper!

The filter replacement was just what I ordered for my one gallon compost keeper. Delivery was quick from Home Naturals. The installation was easy. They work well at preventing odors.

The filters on my stainless steel compost keeper were getting thin and worn and needed replacement and I was having problems with fruit flies getting inside. These filters fit perfectly and took care of the fly problem.

After many years of use, I threw both of my pieces away & used my compost bucket without filters. Finally tired of fighting the fruit flies, I found replacements on Amazon. The set includes a round & square one (not sure what the difference is) exactly as those that came with the bucket. I suspect the round one has the charcoal & the square one does not, but what it does I'm not sure. I wish the advertiser had been more specific with that bit of information so I didn't have to spend time deciding between the "set" & the 2 "filters". Next time I'll save the square piece & order the set of 2 round filters

These filters are inexpensive but do not properly fit the Norpro compost keep I previously bought. The original filters are thick and round, fitting snugly into the lid, these are thin with a smaller diameter. They do an OK job of keeping the smell in the compost can but gnats and fruit flies have free reign and love breeding between the 2 filters.

I had a ceramic compost container that was heavy and the lid broke. This stainless bucket is great and the lid is on tight. It's a good size at 1 gal and the price is good. There is no smell.

These cost $45 to $55 locally so spending just over $30 with free shipping made it affordable.

I still think it's a bit of money for holding scraps but it looks better than quart yogurt containers which I've also used to hold scraps until I took them to the compost bin outside.

I have used this compost bucket and filters for a number of years and the filters are easily washed and used over and over again. If I recall correctly, I think they lasted more than a year with constant use and keep the kitchen counter oder-free. Highly recommend this system for counter-top composting items to be taken to the compost pile when filled.
