My kids and I love cherries, and we love eating them in bulk. After seeing one of my friends with a single pitter, I decided to look for one that can process in bulk. This pitter attaches easily anywhere in the kitchen and does a great job. The hopper fits about 20 cherries at a time, which can be processed in about a minute - that's like 1200 cherries an hour. The bucket for the pits works well, and the spring loaded plunger does a good job of kicking out the pitted cherries. I should caveat that sometimes it won't get all the pits, especially on smaller berries. However, any model will have that problem, and it is a low percentage, less than 5%.

Because we could process cherries in bulk we made a real cherry pie, which was amazing and so much better than the canned filling. Anyway, if you like cherries and want to eat lots of them without having to spit out all the pits, look no further.

The cherry pitter worked great. There were times the cherry would stick to the plunger but you learn how to push the plunger so it snaps back to knock it off. I was all set to start to pit them after my husband put it together but after he watched me do a few he took over and had 18 pounds pitted in less then an hour.

I love cherries and every year end up with purple fingers from hand-pitting them and my family would only get them once a season. This year I invested in the Norpro Cherry Pitter. Works like a charm, doesn't use any electricity so I can put it on any counter without having to be near an outlet. Takes longer to de-stem the cherries than to run them through the pitter. Great little gadget...bought a second one for my summer home.

15 lbs. of cherries done, another 15 lbs. of cherries to go, and I'm happy with this product. We had the fortune of my two kids, 3 and 7, spending a couple hours picking a friends overloaded cherry tree. There were cherries of all sizes, tiny, small, medium and some big ones. I didn't have a problem at all with the stoner working with even the really small cherries. I found a rhythm, and I was able to identify when I got a mis-pit (i.e. didn't get the pit out), and I now have a better appreciation for why cans of cherries always have that little disclaimer regarding the possibility that there may be pits.

Look, from my viewpoint, if you're looking for something to pit cherries without a single error, that feeds the cherries without a single hitch, and takes no time ...well, I'm not sure it exists, and if it does, you're going to pay a large sum of $$ for it. However, if you're looking to be able to move through large amounts of cherries and do so with minimal effort and good quality control, then I think you'll be pleased with this product.

I didn't have any problems with suction (though, my rubber pad was moist when I would set it up); sure, it's not always effortless feeding (friction anyone - slightly rubbery skin of cherries vs. plastic feeder tray = physics more powerful than your desire for perfection), but a simple poke of the finger and voila, everything back on track in a tenth of a second; there's splatter - but for us, isn't that part of the fun?

Simple, effective, efficient, and a fantastic product for my expectations. Now, I can't wait for our cherry orchard to mature.

This little devise just works. It is easy to clean, and seems very sturdy too. I pitted five cups of fresh cherries in about three minutes. They just fell in place, and rolled out into a bowl. All of the pits were captured in a little pit tank that comes with . This is well worth the money. It is simply the best gadget I have ever had. It works! Make sure you take the stems off first if you want to, no need to worry if you leave them on too. One warning; wear a towel or apron because I got just a few specks of cherry juice on one of my white T shirts as I just pumped and pitted. I don't care though. I was so happy it worked and my wife did not scold me for buying another gadget that fails or breaks or can't be cleaned. This one is a deal at twice the cost.

When this arrived, it looked like it had been returned by somebody else. No instructions were inside, and it was partially assembled. My cherries got stuck in the chute, and it only removed 9 our of 12 pits. It was returned immediately.

It works great! I did have to push the cherries into the little pitter spot often, they don't just roll in always and the suction comes up sometimes. But it is much better then cutting the seed out.

I like this cherry pitter. I am disappointed that it did not come with instructions of any kind :( I was able to figure it out and use it. Will need to figure out how to pit all of the cherries submitted to the process (about 85% accuracy). The suction base works great. I did find the pdf instructions online. http://www.norpro.com/uploads/pdf/5120-instructions-2013.pdf
