I could write a long explanation of my problems with this product, but I will just keep it sweet and simple. Mine broke 2 months after I bought it. I tried to get it fixed and (Norpro) told me tuff luck and would only sell me a new one plus shipping!

Stick with OXO kitchen Products. I have found their company to be honest and have a good product.

i'm disappointed in this over-the-sink colander. several of the little rubber coverings over the feet fell off right away, leaving sharp little feet that can scratch up my kitchen. equally irritating, the silver band at the top of the colander can trap small items, such as rice i've been rinsing. this not only makes it a pain to clean, but forces me to scoop some contents out with a spoon, rather than simply pour them out. i wouldn't repurchase and am tempted to toss mine and find one with a more sensible design.
on the plus side, i like the relatively fine mesh and the shape. the large area lets me spread items across the bottom, simplifying rinsing and inspecting them.

Search Froogle dot com for "Pierced Steel Sink Colander" and you'll find a similar over the sink strainer with rubber feet that can't come off for only ten bucks.

This is a neat tool.

What makes it nice is that when you drain your pasta, it holds the pasta up above the surface of the sink without using a second hand. If you use a large pasta pan this can avoid burns and pulled back muscles.

If you have used other colanders that have feet to do this, they don't have them high enough to keep the drained pasta water from backwashing over the pasta again before it goes down the drain... Yuck.

The only negative, is that it is a pain to store, due to it's shape and size. However, if you are like me, it goes from use to dishwasher to use again, so it's official storage place never gets used.

It works, and isn't that what you want? Found it at Macys for $19.00. What's up with the price Amazon? When you see very high retail prices at Amazon, and their very low prices on the same item, do you think that it is really NOT a REAL retail price? What's the real scoop Amazon? Tell it like it is.

I had the same experience as another reviewer, the little black rubber end covers fell off immediately, food get caught around the edge in the space between the mesh and the metal rim. I too am going to toss this one, and get a better designed strainer bowl (it doesn't have to be over the sink, either).

This product has been a real lifesaver for me. Trying to juggle a heavy pan and a colander while cooking was very frustating. Often, you can't set the colander down in the sink because you have other things in the sink. With this colander, it is SO easy to drain pasta, ground meat, vegetables, etc. as it rests on the edges of the sink. It is also wonderful for washing fruits and vegetables. It actually is a fine mesh sieve, so I also use it to rinse ground beef after browning--to remove all the extra fat.

It is very sturdy and holds a LOT. I use mine daily and it has stood up to lots of use. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the little rubber feet kept coming off. It wasn't a big deal, but they should've been secured better. This product is a must-have for anyone who cooks.

I've always longed for a colander that was easy to use and didn't require a balancing act between a hot pot and the colander. Then, I saw this one and my life changed. :-) No more accidentally splashing myself with the hot water from newly cooked pasta. No more calling to my husband to hold the pot steady while I scoop everything out. No more hassles. I just set the colander across the sink, extend its handles to make sure it won't move, and pour the contents of the hot pot into the colander and walla...no fuss or muss. I love it.

my colander arrived missing one of its rubber feet but i couldn't bare to part with it after using it once....it is used several times each day...for many more things than i could ever have thought of.....thanks for giving this service to your book customers....i would never have shopped on line for anything but books....now i am hooked on ... ....SHIRLEY DARNELL..OKC,OK

I recently purchased this product from a high-end kitchen store for about 25% more $$ (before Amazon launched their kitchen store) and I love it! It is like having two extra arms when trying to cook pasta, sauce and bread all at the same time!
